I think they were like $70-80 when he had the "pre-order" up. I thought it was cool and wanted one, but not for that price. I'm content with the original. I think the only thing potentially driving the price up is that red hucard tray piece. Don't know if it's 3D printed or oem PCE dyed for the set. Hmm...

Well, I talked to him.  They are a little more than I was thinking they would be.   ](*,)

How much could a homemade bootleg HuCard cost?

Wanting $70 + shipping for the box set.

Same.  I was thinking about getting one just for the cool factor.  But not at that price.  I have the original as well, but mostly play the arcade machine downstairs.

The usual $40 ish for his work on the case/manual and disc insert and some $$ to Electrohaze for his remastered soundtrack works.  Not too bad if you ask me.

Ya'll need jesus..

Eh, I think 70$ is too high.

AFAIK, Electrohaze didn't see much money from the musical part he worked on despite that being more effort than making the physical part of said CD.

The package itself uses borrowed artwork, as opposed to original artwork.  Thus, not that much effort really has to go into the packaging thing...  effort sure, but not the kind of effort that would warrant that much of a cost.

I'd say 50$ tops for the whole thing and even that's pushing it since you can almost get a damn Everdrive for it at that point.

Unless I am mistaken, the parts for their HuCards aren't that expensive since they got like, a f*ckin ream of ROM chips that they've likely already profited off of due to all the other repro sales.   And speaking from the fact that... we make HuCards too, and have to buy chips/boards.

The real effort and cost-increaser lies in the ROM hack itself, and music rediddling efforts.    I don't think the person who did the ROM hack sees any kickback.

Electrohaze's Download 2 remaster was like 20$.

We make fun of Tobias when he cobbles together other people's art for a package to sell a game he didn't make.

This is the same thing.   It's too expensive, and defeats the purpose.

The photoshoppery and such doesn't warrant the price increase.   It's only at that price because people pay for it without thinking.   They can get away with it, so they do.

"Shit 70$ for a new game package! ? COOL GIVE ME IT"

Well damn, since my name came up. I feel I should say something.

Anything I do that's released to the community is for the love of the games. Yes, it's true I got a small amount of compensation for the music I provided for the CD+G disc included with that Splatterhouse Chrome release. You know what I did with that $$$? I reinvested it right back into another project I am working on.

Yep, I do charge $20 (plus $5 shipping) for a remastered copy of Download 2. Thanks for the plug, lol.    I spent MANY HOURS on that project.  I don't do this sort of thing to make money, I have a job to make money. Money I actually made off the remaster seems to just find it's way back into future projects.

I think they best thing for anyone to do simply look at the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Surly people have thought the same thing about what I provide. Educate yourself, and be happy about the purchases you make knowing that your purchase pushes the community forward and not backward.

Also brush your teeth.

Not everything pushes the scene forward.

Some things are cool, but, we need to think before we shrug and pay for everything just because its kinda neat.

It is neat, but its too expensive, and may further encourage excess attempts to make money off stuff.

$70 seems awfully high to me, but all of those huey repros are too pricey for me.  I'll stick to my flashcart, thanks.

The CD+G sounds cool though.

I want to know more about CD+G, too...I don't use Facebook.
