I think the key here is to show my tinkering friends the actual tower.  Opening it up and brag about the potential for expansion and gush over the memory card slots.  :)

By all means do NOT turn the FX system on because nothing it runs will impress someone who has Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Metal Gear Solid. :(

It's true :(  But, I did laugh out loud when I read that!  haha.

Had the PC-FX come out earlier like it should have (considering how early development had started) the system would have had another leg to stand on but Hudson didn't want to interfere with PCE game sales. Which is sad, had they released it sooner, we would have had a larger library of games. We would have had an animated Tengai Makyou 3 game instead of the 3D mess that Namida was for the PS2. Not to mention other titles like Hi-Ten Bomberman (which Hudson later reused elements from for Saturn Bomberman) and Reds Winds of Thunder FX. On top of all that, the decision ruined the relationship that the two companies had. PC-FX had great potential, it was just too little too late.

Long story short, show them all Hentai.

Honestly, I can't help but to think that the Saturn is the real spiritual successor to the PC engine...
I mean, think about it, both the PCE and the Saturn were a bit of a flop outside of Japan, but in Japan they were pretty successful, the Saturn has a load of shmups, just like the PCE, the Saturn had some of the better 2D arcade conversions, just like the PCE, the Saturn had a cartridge slot that took memory expansions for its CD games, just like the PCE, and the Saturn had some of the better 2D fighting games, not quite like the PCE, but I think we can all agree that the PCE at least had better fighting games than the Genesis...
Also, Saturn Bomberman is a thing, and so is Cotton 2, you know, not-too-different libraries...

I agree with you, Michiharus. The Saturn got updated versions of many PCE titles too. Many Hudson IP's we loved on the PCE like Yuna, Tengai Makyou, Momotarou and Bomberman. Some of the TGL titles like Variable Geo and Steam Hearts (which is MUCH improved on the Saturn). Asuka 120%, Seiya Monogatari, Ys and a bunch of other shit that I am sure I missed.

But with all that said, I still take a liking to the PC-FX. Not more so than the Saturn, but it has charm...  :)

The PCFX had the better design of all 3 machines.   It's too bad they didn't just like, put the Saturn in the PC-FX and go "OK DONE."

Yeah that's pretty much the whole point, the PC-FX Should have been the Saturn...

I just got into the PC-FX recently because I wanted to play Yuna FX, so I've downloaded some of the non-ero games for the system like Zenki, Zeroigar, Team Innocent and Chip-Chan Kick, to name a few, but the thing is that while the PCE Yuna games were so easy that I could beat them both without understanding jacks***, In Yuna FX I got stuck in the very first battle, so I gave up and went to play this Akazukin Chacha game which I got just because I'm a fan of the show, but it's like a board game which plays scenes from the show every time something happens, and the answer to everything that happens is pretty much always the "Beauty Serene Arrow" just like it was in the show, and it plays the full transformation scene every time, just like in the show, because we just gotta have that padding right? (Thankfully you can skip it)
Yeah no thanks... When it comes to Chacha games, I'm sticking with the shmup for the X68000...
Needless to say, I got bored of it pretty quickly and went to play Chip-Chan Kick because I hear it's similar to Parasol Stars, and it's a Cybertech Custom game, their games are usually 'okay', but with really awesome music, but well, the music in this one is pretty forgettable... (I blame the CD audio, it will never beat chiptunes!) At least the gameplay is better than pretty much all their other games, and there isn't any poorly aged 16-bit hentai in it as far as I'm concerned, which is good because I'm not the least bit interested in dithered low-res tiddies...

I haven't yet played Zenki or Zeroigar, I'm saving them for later when I'm in the mood to play something other than Dragon Quest VIII again, also, I'm kinda busy working on something so I'm not playing much of anything lately...

(Note: I do know a little bit of Japanese, like just enough to navigate menus and know what I'm doing, what I don't quite understand is what is going on in the story and what the characters are saying...)

If you don't like dither titters, the FX is basically not worth turning on, lol.

I like Can Can Bunny.  That shit rules.

Which is why I downloaded the non-ero games =w=';
I know they're the tiny minority, but I pretty much do the same thing for PC-98...
The difference is that PC-98 is worth it because YM2203/YM2608, also, it has more action games and shmups...
Flame Zapper Kotsujin on its own makes the whole system worth it lol

Yeah, PC98 has way more non-porn games, and even some of those are actually fun, like Alantia.

PC-FX barely has games in the first place, and the action games are all kinda hohum.

Try ruruli rarura.   Its like "wow this is dumb", lol.

it feels like shareware.

And there are even some action games with NSFW scenes in them, such as V.G.2 and Night Slave for example, where you can turn off the CG and enjoy just the action game, and others such as Valkyrie the Power Beauties where you can avoid the hentai by just picking "No" any time the game asks you "Yes" or "No" because that's when it's going to show you porn, and if you pick "No" you're avoiding it...

Night Slave is amazing btw, it's one of the extremely few PC-98 games that pulls off (relatively) smooth horizontal scrolling, and also one of the even fewer games that uses 3 action buttons instead of just 2, it's a pretty good 2D mech game with a super-catchy FM-Funk-esque soundtrack, I love it! But if you try and play it for the 16 bit porn, you'll be waiting for a while because the VN cutscenes in it take FOREVER! And personally, I think it gets in the way of the gameplay...

I remember hearing about Ruruli Rarura on a Game Sack video but I don't remember what game it was... I'll check it out some time if I don't forget about it in 5 minutes...

Regarding the Saturn being the real PCE2 (and the DC beyond that): I made a website (back when people still did that) that outlines that very concept.

That reminds me, I haven't been to the Cleveland show in...at least three years.
