I'd hope so.

Bought this when no one knew what Steam was and preloading the game seemed like something crazy.  Beat it when it came out and loved it, but haven't played in many years.

I only got to play HL2 when it was released to the PS3 as the Orange Box. I have everything HL on my steam account but I never played them there hah.

Not a big fan of HL2 anyway. HL1 is still the better game for me. Spent a lot of time playing the Sierra CDROM version, not to mention the huge amount of hours spent playing around with Worldcraft (now Hammer) making custom campaign maps for myself to play... I was so glad my PC at the time could run it at 1024x768 at 30fps, in a way it was the 4K res of the time lol. Still my favorite PC game ever.

I'm not a big fan of the direction the game went Xen onwards, and that includes all subsequent games, which are great but not as great as HL1, because I love the concept of "In this game shit has just hit the fan. Escape" it has, which is a little bit subdued in the sequel and episodes.

I never played it, but I'm too busy playing other stuff and someone else deserves a chance to play it now.

It's on my list of "must play before I die"...

A couple of years back forum member LMS convinced me to play Half Life 2. I said I didn't like 3D or FPS games, that I only liked 2D sprite based games. He convinced me to give it a go and he was right, it is one of the best games I've ever played.
A few months back I played Black Mesa which is a remake of the first Half Life game, it's just as good as Half Life 2.

Yup, thank you!  Now Black Mesa is on my list...along with  Portal and Destiny and Ico other random things :)

And... I remember LMS! He was in UK and popped up for the PCE fanzine/local PCE import circa 1990's discussions!

I even bought a PS2, years ago, for Ico (and other PS2 games that seemed pretty intriguing), but life got way too busy.

I beat Destiny and I recommend that you take it off your list.

I played through Portal and Portal 2 again through recommendation from LMS, they are both very, very good games but not as good as Half Life 2 (or Black Mesa).
On thinking about it those two Half Life games are I feel the greatest video games of all time, well the best I've played. That's coming from someone constantly sing the praises of Winds of Thunder and Dracula X and prior to playing Half Life 2 had no real interest in anything past the 32 bit generation.

Half Life 2 (and Black Mesa) is utterly essential to play if you're a fan of video games in any way and should be top of anyone's list of what to play next if you've never played it. This is basically what LMS said to me a couple of years back, and he was right.
