I don't know how many of you had this promo tape. I was mailed one back in the day. I don't know if I still have it.
But you all might enjoy knowing that Tony Hawk was the one who made and edited the video. Tony Hawk said in an interview HERE that he used to do video editing when his income was low. I recognized his voice when I re-watched this video today. So I asked him if he made it. He confirmed that indeed he did.
Better than Kanye? I'd say so.
Yes, but I would love to know if Tony knew any of the folks filmed...like, were some of interviewees "friends" ...or were they just random dudes found at local video stores?
It seems reasonable that at least 1-2 folks were "planted" to say positive stuff, IMHO.
ANYWAY, the style of the LoT promo is not far removed from early skate videos that my friends watched in late 80's/early 90's...so that's kinda neat (so many promo videos back in that era were very, very corporate, as you well know...even when attempting to "connect" with youthful demographic, it was usually a condescending and/or infantile tone in most corporate videos)

Note: Of course, I'm not saying Tony filmed it (he said he only edited it, correct?). By I wonder who actually conceived/filmed the LoT video.
