Looking for a replacement PC Engine Duo Shell
« on: April 23, 2017, 12:13:27 PM »
I recently picked up a TurboDuo to replace my TG16. I have reached out to another forum member here for a new replacement hucard door/cover as mine is missing. But I am on the lookout for a replacement in good condition top shell for the TurboDuo.  Anyone happen to know where I can snag one or if someone has one they are willing to part with? Thank you in advance. I have provided a link for what my current shell looks like:

lol no.  It was the photo the seller sent me of the TurboDuo. I have actually not received it in the mail yet... just trying to get ahead of the curve, so to speak

The cat or the console? lol,  its probably not as bad as it looks in the photo, but if I am able to get a replacement shell some day for a decent price that would be fantastic.  Wonder how difficult it would be to resurface the shell....

Now that I think about it, Michael Helgeson was selling some stuff and mentioned he had a shell available on Facebook a few days back... Might not hurt to check with him.

I hate to trouble you but is there a FB pcenginefx forum? I would love to reach out to him, thank you.

One thing I forgot to mention is that this console has had all the caps replaced and it has a new cd laser.

If you find a new shell, don't throw the old one out. I'd love to try a car paint job on it, if nobody else needs it.

Oh I won't throw it out. I never do. Keeps those around for .... reasons.  But if I do get a shell, I can let you know.

Get a Mr clean magic eraser and go to town on that case. It will make it look 10x better. Try to use the whole sponge at once and swipe the casing going from right to left. If you go up and down the wipe marks will be more obvious later.

This does work so do it! Take it from someone who has done this on many DUOs with fantastic results.

The Magic Eraser is a really tough abrasive, it can erase the texture off most plastics very easily.

It really matters how hard you push while using the eraser in my experience.  Doing it lightly a couple times can at least make it looks more consistent in general.
