I was there almost constantly for awhile. There was a lot of shittalking, but I don't remember people talking shit about you. Mostly people angry about gouging or talking about the trolls that frequented the forum. I do remember folks asking why you never came to chat. A few people would make grumpy old man comments but I always figured that was just your sense of humor. A lot of times, people gave props to your music or if your name came up regarding a comment thread it would be about "Zeta's Sick Burn!!". Now we know how you feel, I guess.

It was really helpful for doing on-the-spot diagnostic/repair work. I cant tell you how many people I would interact with, new and old, about broken consoles. That still continues in the other chatrooms and has been a real boon for anyone who is trying to fix a beloved console.

You were/are always welcome, man. Even if you think we're mentally 11 year olds.

Mobile devices will get booted due to the way they suspend the browser process in the background.  I have seen (and been seen) idle for days on end without losing connection when leaving the browser open at the office over the weekend.

The main reason for pushing the Discord forum is to organize more action around translation efforts. Discord has proven very effective for that, moreso than IRC because when you're not on IRC you don't see what happened when off-line, and of course the chat logs build up too.

This is the fundamental derp I see with chatters now.

Do you guys not know how to idle?  I only leave IRC if my computer reboots or internet tards out.

It saves a hard copy chatlog to my computer for every channel I am in. 

Funfact: Translation efforts were organized on IRC before Discord, lol.

I personally couldn't give two shits less about Discord for other shit, but we don't need a "PCEFX" one segregated from the site.   That's the main point here.

I idled there for 3 days before IT asked me if I was in an IRC and politely asked me not to, and it was dead empty in there the whole time. Who wants to idle in an empty chat, that shit is lame.

And even if the IT dudes here were idiots, they still call the shots on what I can and can't do on my work PC so not sure what good that fun fact does me.

Like I said, I only used it two or three times so I don't know WTF was said. I just noticed a few punchlines I didn't have the background to understand but they were clearly aimed at me. I don't really care. All those a$$holes are probably gone now anyway.

I haven't used any kind of chat since forever. I understand the appeal, especially with anything technical, but for most stuff I do here...frankly, the forum moves fast enough! Although my typo tally would suggest otherwise, I do like to put effort into my posts. More than "lol" anyway. Also, chats are nearly goddamded impossible to parse unless you live in the thing.

I just question the existence of 3 PCE forums, and multiple chats, some of which not everyone is even aware of.

Look at the example of T2KFreeker.   Because that was all secluded to one chat, an entire forum of people were unaware of some shit that went down. 

PCEFX is the premier PC Engine forum/community site.   This is where pretty much all of the magic originated from.  This is where the most users exist.  It makes sense to have a chat *at the top*.

What doesn't make sense is continually forking off other chats/forums for this community.    It's like how the Facebook thing became a hot mess because everyone and their goddamn mother wanted to make a group.   We ended up with a sprawled out shitshow of morons.

and what also doesn't make sense is shit like what you're doing, which is basically just being a dumbass that isn't even trying to pay attention to the topic/point to realize it actually makes some sense because you're too busy doing your "omg I need to yell at Arkhan" thing.   Get over it.

If they had a Discord thing jammed into the top of the forum, that would be cool.   It's likely a pain in the ass though.  Much more so than a small IRC widget, or the OG Shoutbox widget, really. 

As it stands now, multiple tabs/chats/forums/etc. is annoying.   

This isn't ego/power trip/I want to use my thing related.  Someone mentioned that jokingly in otherchat when I suggested to use my channel.  (LOL YOU GOT OPS YOU'LL BAN EVERYONE).

I already said if my IRC channel was to be the one to exist at the top, the moderation powers would match that of PCEFX's forum, so Necromancer can kick, and Joe Redifer can continue to do f*cking nothing. 

but, if there's a different chat widget or something, go ahead and use it.   IRC is apparently out for Gredler because his IT department thinks IRC webchat is going to hack the gibson.
