Pc Engine GT - Controller board replacement and impressions
« on: September 15, 2019, 08:06:32 AM »
Hi all!

Here's some pictures I took during a simple Pc Engine GT controller board replacement:

I got the item here:
https://tg16pcemods.ecwid.com/#!/Turbo-Express-PC-Engine-GT-Controller-Replacement-Board/p/103220798/category=0

I just have two caveats for people that would like to do the same fix:
1) The new earbuds input is not 100% flush so a mm or so doesn't allow perfect closure out of the box (check pictures).
2) My start / select buttons did not work. I cannot say that this is for sure a problem with the board, it could well be that my rubber contacts were also quite gone... I solved using those mini-kits to repair old tv remote controllers, now both buttons work perfectly.

I am very happy with the product and now my Pc Engine is shiny and super responsive again.

Have a great day :)

Neato.  Thanks for sharing some internals pics.  I don't really know what I'm looking at, but 'tis cool to see anyway.

Ah sorry for not removing the very professional insulation of kitchen paper :D

It is a video out board done by Vimtoman in the past, it works as a little champion!

It uses the normal video cable and provides an extra composite out that someday, if I understand how, I'd like to route out from the earbuds plug.

Here's some pics about that mod, in case you are curious:

Nice! I didn't know there were kits to repair old remote controls.
