PC Engine CoreGrafx and IFU Sound Question
« on: November 22, 2020, 12:53:44 PM »
Hi,

I got my CoreGrafx RGB Mod working nicely thanks to Keith :)
This weekend I was looking in some boxes and found my old IFU.
Quite yellow and no cover but it still seems to work. If I knew I still have it, I would have installed the RGB mod in there.
Now I don't want to move the RGB mod to the IFU since I am happy to have it working in the CoreGrafx.
So now the thing is, the IFU has only chinch connectors.
When I plug my RGB modded CoreGrafx into the IFU and use my RGB cable going from the CoreGrafx to the TV I only have sound effects when using a CD Game.
The music is missing.
Would it be possible to attach Audio Chinch Plugs to the RGB Cable and feed the CD Audio from the Audio Output of the IFU into the RGB Cable?
Would that work or could that damage something?

You are best having the RGB mod inside the coregrafx like you've already done. Installing a RGB amp inside the IFU can sometimes have video interference issues with the video quality. If you need Audio to go through your scart cable, then you simply need to disconnect the audio from the core grafx(inside the scart cable) and then wire up a pair of male RCA plugs to the Scart cable instead. Then plug those two Audio RCA cables into the IFU Dock
