Game of the Month: December 2021 - Air Zonk
« on: December 02, 2021, 09:22:38 PM »
AIR ZONK

Last one of the year! Wanted to do an easy one and a fun one. So, Air Zonk / PC Denjin it is. I wanted to play both for the differences since I forget some of them. I know the scoring is way different. I also remember way back we had this for a GotM when SamIAm was doing these. A lot of folks were active in the scoreboard. Seems you get way more points going at it alone. I will always love this game and hate the sequel. Rockabilly was such a let down. Anyways it's a good one and hopefully we can get some scores in by the two folks that do these. Enjoy!

Air Zonk is a great shewty that I'm always happy to give another go.  My favorite friend is moo-moo and how you combine to shoot milk from your giant mams.  It's unfortunate that they censored that on the US version; it's just an udder, so get your mind out of the gutter!

This is the one shewty on PCE that I'm actually pretty sure I get worse at over the years. I pick it up every few months and I just get rocked each time. Makes me wonder/realize that I likely played it on "sweet" or easy mode growing up. :(

I think I played it on my stream last month and was utterly embarrassed, lol...  Still love it tho, and of course very likely the finest example of parallax and music on the HuCard.  Great choice!

I play the Japan version, this game is harder than expected. Having a bit of trouble keeping track of all the projectiles on the busy background.

Anyone got an idea of how I can see my final score? The game jumps to the game over screen faster than I can write down my score and there’s no high score table either…

Well, I didn't do so well playing this this month.  I couldn't get a groove going to build up a nice pile of extra lives, so the boss rush (when I even got that far) didn't last long.

Still, I love this game.  Even if I only get a few levels in, it's fun to play, lovely to look at, and has some of the best chip tunes around.

Yeah I think my gaming skills are slowly dying. I could 1cc this game easy on spicy mode. Now I can barely even get to the boss rush. Didn't do well this past month with it. So time for a new GoTM. Hope everyone had a good christmas and new years!

I haven't been properly obeying lately. :(

All of my consoles have dead CD drives, and even though these GotM's are mostly HuCARDs, I just feel sad when I sit down to play because I haven't gotten any of them repaired yet. I have a cap kit to repair my PCE's Super CD attachment, but it's more ambitious than I was expecting, haha.

If I were to set new year resolutions, I'd want at least one working CD system by the end of the year.
