A quick note for anyone who plays this game and gets to this point without resorting to Magic Engine chicanery...

I've found that if I have the turbo switch for button II in the "middle" position, my guns will maintain their streams of fire.  I thought I had tried this earlier unsuccessfully, but I guess I hadn't.  The other problems I noted--significant slowdown, disconcerting changes in speed, and occasional self-pausing--are still present, but at least I don't feel like a sitting duck now, and I'm definitely doing a lot better with it.

Has anyone seriously listened to the voices that say "Rayxanber!!!" at the beginning of the title screen in Rayxanber II?  Just listen to them.  Every time I hear them, I think a bunch of old retarded men are saying it:

Dude! What are you talking about? I love that part.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yep, it's true... they sound like retards.  Nobody can possibly say they sound like normal, well developed human beings.  The title screen music, however, kicks all sorts of ass!

Sheeeiit, I can do better than that!  Here's the title screen music (complete with retard voices) and stage 1, 2, and 3!  The music for the rest of the stages isn't as good, and my opinion is best.

I love all the tunes in Rayxanber II.  I think it's great how they get so mellow later on.

Progress report: Beat the 5th stage boss (!)

Holy crap, is that for real?! The only good thing I can say is that at least they sound like a genuinely happy group of mentally disabled folks. I suspect it was the development team, hence the slowdown and other issues that runin discussed.

Even in their wildest dreams, the Data West dudes probably never expected that someone would actually believe this is their real, normal voice. They were wrong it seems :) That reminds me of the crazyness of the Daisukiss title or the Sega logo from Comix Zone (best voice ever). It sounds more like humour to me than debility, but you never know with those folks.

I wonder what the voices in games from Data South sounded like.  Did they have a country twang?  How about Data North?

I would imagine Data North's voices would have a lot of "ehs" in it and stuff while Data South's would use the word "y'all" and what not.

I can just imagine  the normal "Presented by Data East" as "Presented by Data South y'all!"

Does this prove that people from the west are retarded?

Hey, hey - before you throw stuff at me - I grew up half my life in California.
