So, I bought Rayxanber II recently and I really like it, and I'm doing well at it--at least, up until the latter part of stage 4.
That's when the game starts getting hit by MASSIVE slowdown. It slows down so badly that my guns can no longer fire, and it even automatically pauses itself on occasion when things get really bad (it actually plays the pause jingle and everything, and I have to press Run to get it going again). Then, when a few enemies go away, it suddenly decides to speed up again, which is also irritating.
Now, I'm not one to make excuses for losing. But when there are four unpredictable bouncing rock-things, four relentless alien-things, and a huge snake-thing all on the screen at once and I can't even fire at them, well, I'd say I'm at an unfair disadvantage.
The disc is in excellent shape and my system is in perfect working condition. I'm playing the game on my old TG16+TGCD setup. I have two questions:
1) Does this part of the game run any more smoothly when you play it on Magic Engine? I don't dabble in emulation much at all, but I'd look into it if it could help me play the game the way it's meant to be played.
2) I don't know anything about tech stuff, so I'm wondering if it might help if I played the game on my Duo-R (perhaps with the Arcade Card Duo inserted) instead of on the TG+CD combo. My Duo-R is stored away right now and I'd rather not drag it out if there's no chance of it alleviating the problem.
This is frustrating because I like the game a lot and I feel that I'm really getting good at it, and I believe that the wall I've hit has nothing to do with me not being up to the challenges it's throwing at me.
Thanks for any help!
