Hello people.
« on: February 17, 2007, 06:50:21 AM »
My name is Mike, and I'm from The Garden State itself, New Jersey.

I've never owned a TG-16, or a PC Engine or a Turbo Express or any of the other NEC/Hudson consoles, and the only way I've played the games that it has are through emulators, and I recently bought two TG-16 games for the Wii Virtual Console. I'm hoping that they'll add "Splatterhouse" and "Legend Of Hero Tonma" to the Wii Virtual Store soon. Anyway, after playing TG-16 titles on the Wii Virtual Console, I have ambitions of getting a used TG-16 console one of these days, but it probably WON'T be anytime soon. I also realized that the TG-16 has alot of good games on it.

Dragon's Lair appreciation. Again.

Welcome aboard.  Nice to see that VC is actually bringing some people over to the PCE/TG camp.

Super sweet, I think this is our first (maybe second) member who has joined these boards with an interests in the TG16 due to the Virtual Console :) .

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

OK, I hadn't seen this thread until tonight. Welcome to the lovely world of TG-16 :)

Aside: Of course, NJ rules. I grew up in Northern Jersey (Bloomfield), spent 8 years in southern California, and just recently moved back to NJ. I can't wait until we have a REAL blizzard here (I want to build a snowman). I actually enjoyed shoveling snow this past wednesday! It was fun. I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon, though. I'm already sick of cleaning snow / ice off of my car...

Welcome aboard!  It's nice to see more people being exposed to the TG-16 by way of the Wii.  It amazes me how many people don't remember the TG-16 before seeing it on V.C. - Hudson had some real marketing geniuses working for 'em in the US.   :^o

Welcome, true believer! :D Make yourself at home and help yourself to some cookies and punch!

Yeah, the virtual console has really helped reignite the popularity of TG16! Glad to see more people interested and hope it keeps growing!

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!

Yeah, I think you're right. The first time I played a PCE/TG16 title was in 1998 when I had learned how to use the magic of emulators, luckily, I'll get to play the real thing soon.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I felt it was a bit pointless to start another!

Hi, my names Oli and live in the UK. As the Turbografx didn't quite make it there I didn't have one when I was younger but after reading the Retro Gamer magazine and bought an original white PC Engine. After that I've not looked back and now have the CD-Rom add on. Cheers!

Cheers guys!

Seems like a nice friendly forum, the only other forums I frequent are the Retro Gamer Magazine one and IDJ (international DJ magazine).

I didn't mention I also own a Supergrafx and a Shuttle in my last post. I have a soft spot for the Shuttle, so daft and pointless, but I love it when people come round and say "What the hell is that?!?" !!

BTW does anyone read Retro Gamer magazine? Its a UK based multiformat, but there are several posters on the forum from Australia, Canada, America etc..

I've read it a couple of times, unless I'm mistaking it for something else. They have a lot of old computer (not PC, but stuff like ZX Spectrum, Commodore, etc) stuff in it, right?
