new pcengine owner
« on: March 06, 2007, 06:18:04 AM »
After long last i've finally bitten the bullet and bought a pcengine, as i've never played one before 8)  I got a core grafx 2 as i wanted a basic hucard system to begin with (as there are so many games available) and slowly work my way up.  I got these games so far:

barunba
blue blink
bomberman 94
dragon egg
dragon spirit
fantasy zone
ordyne
parodius
rabius lepus
twinbee

All i have to say is wow, its far better than my jap MD, i can't believe this is a 8 bit system.  I only need one retro system so it looks like the jap MD and games will be going to fund more pcengine shit.  This i hope is just the beginning of many years of pcengine goodness

Welcome to hucard bliss.
You've learned that there is more to a game console than mere bits (sometimes 8 > 16).  That's a nice start to your collection - Blue Blink is a fun little platformer, but you need to pick up PC Genjin for some noggin knockin' fun.
U.S. Collection: 98% complete    157/161 titles

Wow, we're constantly getting new TG16/PCE owners on this board. Welcome!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

thanks for the replies, the PCE is an awsome system, definately up there with the jap MD.  I've got no plans to upgrade the pcengine to CD for a long time (if ever) there are just too many quality hu card games available.

As a fellow fan of shoot-em-ups, have a laugh and pick up ROCK ON. It should be really cheap because no one takes it seriously. I'm easily amused, so the time I've spent playing it has been well-worth the $3 I paid for it (heck, even the coverart on the manual is worth the price of admission). ROCK ON is for folks who are willing to spend some time with sub-par games.

Now, as much as I enjoy HuCards, I think you will find yourself lusting for CD games in the future... simply because there are so many decent shoot-em-ups on CD / SCD.
