How long have you had your current email address?

Scary Thought: As of the end of this year, I will have had my current primary email address for 10 years. I know this, because I got my current email account when Microsoft acquired Hotmail, and I abandoned my hotmail account for another webmail provider.

How about you? How long have you had your email address, and why?

I put 9 years, but then I read your post. I had hotmail long before MS acquired it. So I don't know how old my email is. Not that I use it much nowadays, though.

I've had mine at yahoo.com for about a year now. Before that I was on aol dial-up, then dsl were I had a a hotmail, then a yahoo that came with the dsl service, and now a free yahoo address.

I think I've been using my Yahoo! one for five years now, though there are a couple other email addresses I commonly use too. Guyjin that's awesome that you have been using yours for ten years! I had the internet back in 1996, but I haven't been able to keep my first email address (kkjj23@aol.com).

10 years I got it back in high school and it's served me well.

Mine is based on a website a friend of mine started.  The website turned into a business and I transitioned from my first e-mail address which was @aol.com to my current one.  I love it because it has webmail so I can check it anywhere and I don't have to rely my ISP's crappy e-mail.  And if I switch ISPs, the e-mail stays the same.

I have three e-mail addresses.

One from 2001. (Mailcity)
One from 2004. (Gmail)
One from 2005. (Hotmail)

I get some spam for my hotmail account.
I get TONS of spam for my gmail account.
I get NO spam for my Mailcity account.

Should be the other way around, right?

8 years for my 'serious' address from my ISP and about 4 years for a pair of Yahoo addresses (1 for real email and 1 as a disposable spam trap).  Why?  Because I can, I guess.

7 years - an alumni email from my university (@alumni.usc.edu), which all it does just forwards to another email address.  Works great, as I actually switched my actual "forwarded to" e-mail four times since (@netzero->@yahoo->@cashette->@gmail), but no one ever noticed that I did, since it's transparent to them.

Befor that i had, Earthlink wich was my former isp for many years befor i'd switch to cable.

I still have my first email address.  Had it since 1994.  I don't use it as much anymore, but I still keep it active.  It wasn't until i got my gmail account that I kinda stopped using my original email addr.

I can't even remember what my first email address was... but it must have been something generic issued by the university... like my name.

I've had my hotmail address since high school.  I barely use it anymore and the only reason why it is still up is because I need it as an MSN passport for MSN chat.

Nowadays, I use a webmail address given to me by my local cable modem and TV provider.  It's not too bad save for the long delays in sending an actual e-mail message.
