I drove up to Boston last night and it is a gorgeous day. Hope you folks are enjoying the weekend!

I forgot to bring my laptop, so I had to reset my password for this forum.... I realized that I don't know any of my passwords anymore.

Also, I do not recommend the Strawberry Shortcake soundtrack for the movie. I like the Christmas Strawberry Shortcake CD so I bought a new one for the road trip yesterday -- WHOOOPS! The songs on this new album are horrendous. At least my daughter only wanted to listen to it for 3 hours!

I must've gotten lost like 10 bazillion times just trying to get to locations that were only a few miles away from each other.

Hahahahahaa. I always thought Boston was a more pleasant driving experience than other cities (LA, NYC)... but it's not that much better.

For pedestrians, though, Boston is really great.

I thought this thread was about the band.  The band is OK but I don't think that they were good enough to name an entire city after them.  Maybe that's why the city kind of sucks.

I have a 3" CD single with a few Boston songs... that's the only stuff I have concerning the band.

I didn't wake up early enough for free breakfast (despite my daughter's best efforts: she was diving on to my stomach, smacking my face and yelling "WAKE UP!" in my ear), so we're off to a diner...

I'm from the Boston area, but now live in the Detroit area.  Boston is one of the worst places I've ever driven in.  Mexico city was the worst.  Only cabbed it in LA.

My family is from Maine and Connecticut. (I currently live in Seattle.) Oh, how I miss those small New England states.

And I love grinders. Although nobody here on the west coast knows what I'm talking about when I say that.

Maine, we vacation in Maine.  Mmmm, lobster $4 a pound and the crap you buy at restuarants for $25 a plate is in the $2.99 "chick lobster" buckets.

Problem for me in Boston wasn't so much the drivers.  It's just one of those old cities where there seemed to be no planning when they laid the asphalt over whatever dirt roads they had at the time.  So everything just goes around in circles and curves and roundabouts and shit.  D.C. was kinda like that too.

Whereas lotta west-coast cities (even L.A.) developed late, they're all in a grid-system, so it's not too hard to get around.  The problem with L.A. is just the sheer amount of goddamn traffic, though in the suburbs it's not too bad.

Yes, D.C. is very much like that.

People complain about driving in New York. pffffffffft. New York is a breeze compared to D.C. New York is very much a grid. I have had very minor problems goign from point A to point B in NYC, ic an't say the same for D.C.

Not to say New York doesn't have it's difficult parts and traffic, however I have been more lost in D.C. than I have in New York. And I live right near D.C.

If I ever want a challenge, I'll drive into DC through a random road, and see how long it takes for me to find my way out to the other side, back on the highway, etc. A compass can be helpful when driving in D.C.

Give me grids over wacky turns, dead-ends, streets that seem to stop, and start elsewhere, etc.

I go camping in Vermont and Maine. Otherwise, they don't have much value (sorry!). Fun places to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Boston and its suburbs, though, would be a fun place to live, but I never had a chance to stay up here.

Driving in Boston proper has never been too bad... but I have gotten ridiculously confused within the suburbs. For example, I was trying to get to a shopping mall and the actual route I needed to take was counter-intuitive to the point of absurdity. I had to go the opposite direction I expected -- twice!
