Barqs has bite, but I like Jones Soda's root beer even more (their berry lemonade kicks ass too).  Though I haven't tried any of their soda since they switched to cane sugar, since corn syrup is too expensive now.

Corn syrup is expensive now? I always imagined that stuff would be cheap. It's practically used in everything!

My favorite pop (yes I said pop because it's not called soda) brand is SUPER CHILL! All of their products tastes completely amazing, is dirt cheap, and comes in three liters! Super Chill pineapple flavor is the best, it's just so mind blowingly refreshing!

No it's certainly not a Nebraskan thing (at least I doubt it). As far as I know, it's strictly a Chicago subburb thing! Though Faygo is the more popular generic pop among the South Chicago subburbs.

I just within the last 2 years discovered steel reserve.  If you can choke down the first one, it's great for getting hammered!  I haven't seen any of Keranu's fancy pop around, but maybe if I look.  I have to say that I actually like A&W root beer about the best.  Also there is a local brewery here that makes awesome root beer as well as award winning real beer.  I actually like Boulevard Wheat with a chunk of lemon or orange in it.  Yes I know it's sissy.

What's Steel Reserve?  Is it like a 40 or something?  I haven't properly lived in the US for since 2002 or so, so I have no idea what's what down there anymore.

I'd used to just kick back with buddies with a 40 of Olde English 800.  What was that, like $1.75 at the corner liquor store during my days?  For under $2, you can get rather hammered, and for less than $4, you can be totally inebriated.

(and it was mandatory that we all pull out our Glocks and talk about capping someone.  That was L.A, after all.   8))

When I was drinking it, it was like .89/can or something. Cheapest stuff available, and the high alcohol content assured a quick buzz. After a couple cans we were annihilated.

Steel Reserve is a malt liquor, quite similar to Olde English actually. You might be able to get it in a 40, but it's most commonly sold in 22oz cans. That's what we always bought back in high school. Very high alcohol content.

And this was back in the 90's, like ten years ago, so it's not like it's brand new or anything.

If I remember right, Old English was 7.6% Alcohol, while 211 was at 8.1%  Giving you the superior value for your lunch money.
