i need a HuCard converter. i do not want to mod my duo.
« on: June 01, 2007, 06:03:28 PM »
Hello! I have a US duo system and wish to purchase a converter to play imports. Please do not tell me about moding. I'm not interested in moding my duo in anyway. All I need to know if someone has a converter for sale or if someone can direct to where I can purchase one. thanks!

Thanks everyone for responding except for those who obviously can't read. I stated that I wasn't interested in moding my duo however some of you have decided to tell about moding anyway. If you can't read, don't respond.

Your best bet these days is eBay.

If you're going to go through the trouble of finding a good converter, don't settle for anything other than a Kisado.

The Kisado is compatible with everything and is the best converter out there.

The mod is so much bett... Ah, well, if you haven't seen it already, there's the diving board adapter that's for sale here.

I still say forget the diving board and get the Kisado.  I hear the diving boards have problems with carts like the Arcade Card.

Not to mention everyone here will make fun of you.

Whatever, I use a Miria adapter and it works fine.  Converters rule.  Get the diving board.  I even used a Barney converter for 8 years but I have to admit they are seriously bad news.  Good luck, I'll keep an eye out.

Modding = $40

PC Engine Core Grafx w/ shipping from Japan = $75

Coverter (which you must handle like a newborn during a rocket launch) = $100+

But hey, it's your money (and an expensive novelty if you only need it for a Tennokoe Card).

+1 on the ebay route, since you're too chicken shit to do a console mod.  I only add the mod comment because of your bitchy message edit, but thanks for being a whiny ass.  What in the hell were you hoping for?  That maybe a member was sitting on a couple thousand spare converters, and they were just waiting for someone to jump in and ask for one?  Both responses that mentioned region modification were only saying that modding is the better option but that you should do as you wish.  Perhaps other people reading this thread will appreciate their sage advice, even if you don't want to listen to it.  If you don't want to hear others' opinions, then stay the hell off of internet forums.  And now my rant is over - if you don't like it, don't read it.

How do you mode a duo?  Moding baffles me, I agree that people who suggest moding duos are annoying.

Personally I agree with the guy and don't like to have my systems mod, unless I have an extra system or something. I agree it's a good idea in this case, but I completely understand if someone wants to preserve their console in it's original status. Plus it's cool to have different versions of hardware, even though it cost more!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Personally, I don't own any modded hardware. I, too, prefer to preserve my hardware. But I also bought a Kisado long ago before they cost the big bucks so there is no need to start drilling holes in my systems. I have a few TurboGrafx-16s, a SuperGrafx, a GT, and a Kisado. With this setup I can play every Turbo game ever made. Yay me! I can't stress enough for anyone looking to go the converter route to get a Kisado. You might pay over $100 for one these days but it's worth it. The thing has worked beyond the call of duty for years. Unlike other converters, you can manhandle a Kisado all you want, even while a game is loaded and the system powered up without the game glitching out on you. Plus you get the added bonus of being able to use an Arcade Card without issues.

All that said, I might go ahead and mod my GT, if grahf feels like doing it for me with his new ultra-compact solution. Reason being is that I own a lot of US carts, and I have been buying Japanese duplicates of my US games so that I can play them on the go. YEAh, Japanese carts are cheap, but...

That's my whole problem, I can't read.  One of these days I'll learn how.

Picking up a Core Grafx for less than an adapter makes the most sense.  Unless you only need an adapter for a Tennokoe Bank, which sounds kind of silly.  If you need it for an Arcade Card, an adapter that can flawlessly allow you to operate aforementioned card will cost about the same as a PCE Duo or Duo-R.  (the shipping being a $40 Premium of course).

Alas, I will sit here feeling peacefully superior knowing that I have two PCE->TG adapters and you don't have any.  I do have a Duo-R and a TG-16 w/ Booster Plus and have no use for either adapter or a mod.

Anyone want to go on the Monkey bars or play four-square??

Oh yeah, well my cousin in Rhode Island is a fifth grader.  He knows Karate.  He can kick you in the head from seven different angles just like Jean Claude Van Dumb.
