wtb: BROKEN pc-fx
« on: June 11, 2007, 07:49:15 AM »
I'm sure youve all seen the NES-PCs. Well, I want to use a pc-fx case for a PC project. The games on the system don't interest me enough to warrant starting a collection, but I have always though they looked cool. So, instead of wasting money on a working unit and gutting it, maybe there is a small chance of someone having a broken system they'll part with.

AWESOME! I've been dying to see this done for years! I really hope you're able to find a PC-FX because it's the perfect console to use for a PC case!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah, should turn out nice. I plan on bluetooth keyboard/mouse to keep wires to a minimum. Hopefully somebody had a dead one I can hack up, instead of wasting a perfectly good system.

grahf, if you end up buying a working system, please send me the innards to use as backup parts for my working deck. Thank you.

Nat, I was really hoping it wouldnt come to that. I dont really have the cash to waste buying a working system just for a case.. hey maybe we can split the cost on one? I keep the case you keep the guts?

That's fine if you (we) can find a good deal.

When I bought my working PC-FX it was $65 shipped.

With that in mind, we don't need to be spending $100 on one.

$65 is pretty cheap. If we can find one for that price again it would be great.  Keep an eye out, and i'll do the same.

OK.

EDIT: I was going to say to watch this one, but then I scrolled down and saw what he is charging for shipping. I couldn't believe my eyes:

I'm literally in shock. There is absolutely nothing to justify that shipping price.

EMS isn't cheap.  Consoles aren't light, and $82 will only cover a package weighing about 5kg (11 pounds).

That may be, but he needs to offer shipping options other than EMS in that case. I wouldn't spend that much on shipping a console if my life depended on it.

I have a friend who used to live in Japan, and he'd pick up stuff for me all the time from the shops in Akihabara. I got a SuperGrafx in the same box as the PC-FX I bought, along with like 20 games, AC adapters and a few controllers, etc. That was the biggest & heaviest package I ever got from him, and I think shipping ran me around $30. I don't remember what kind of shipping we used but it wasn't EMS.

Damn, EMS really sucks. I shipped a MASSIVE box at 20+ kilos from Japan by SAL and it "only" cost me $115. It took five days (it was sent on a friday and it arrived on the following wednesday) to get the package, and the customs hadn't touched it. It was in perfect shape.

I got these pics of a PC-FX - PC conversion - it looks pretty sweet and well done.

Neat conversion, but a sad use of a PC-FX. :(
