Double Dragon 2

The only version of Double Dragon 2 that I have played is the crappy Mega Drive version which can go straight to hell and burn.  But I hear that the NES version is FREAKIN' AWESOME and same with the PC Engine version.  Both games promise to give me instant and extremely messy orgasms when I play them.  The internet does not lie.  So my question is this:  Which is more fun to play, the NES version or the PC Engine version?  And Why?

I like the NES version more.  The play control is a little smoother and I like the straightforward music.  It's also about fifty dollars cheaper, so try it first.

IMO, PCE seems to be more polished in just about every category.

The screaming wench in one of the BGMs kinda gets annoying fast, but other than that, it's a pretty good time. 

It still doesn't do the arcade game justice, though

   I've never played the NES version, but the Pc-engine Double Dragon 2 is one of my favourite games ever.  You're definitely missing out broe.

I haven't played the PCE version, but the NES one is one of the best NES games ever.  I hear they're a bit different though, like the NES one has more side-scrolling parts where you can't move up and down (which are awesome).

You need to own BOTH.  The NES version kicks ass and I like to think of the PCE version as a 'Director's Cut' version of the NES rendition.  The PCE version has the same story line.. but adds detail and polish to the levels, adds extra scenes and has a totally different sound track(save for the Mysterious Warrior.. which kicks ass.)  Get them both.. you won't be disappointed.

Joe, the NES version is fantastic. It is a must-have if you like Double Dragon.

I am not a huge fan of the PCE version (because it could have been SOOOOO much more -- they didn't try to really push things), but I do indeed like it . Then again, I'm a big fan of Double Dragon, so take this with a grain of salt.

Joe, as you may recall from my tard-unfriendly thread, the PCE DD soundtrack really adds to the PCE experience. I think each track suits each stage...

The cut-scenes are not as gorgeous as they should have been, but they are a nice addition as well and add another facet to the DD universe.

Of course, if you are like me, you will be sorely disappointed that Mr. Abobo is not the center of the storyline. I'm not kidding. Mr. Abobo, and his cloned brothers, were the only characters who I was the least bit interested in.

You need to just buy a supergun kit and get the jamma board of D.Dragon 2. I own D.Dragon 1 which was my fav. Once you own the arcade game you don't look back... although the Nes and PCE "versions" of part 2 are awesome in their own right.

I don't have room to house arcade cabinets.  Now if there was a 'tard-friendly consolized system that I could play ALL arcade games on (even R-360) then I'd be all over that.  No emulation!

Its called  a Supergun..... You can play most all normal jamma games on them from 86-now....

Yeah the stage 1 BGM. It's hard not to bring that up when the PCE version is mentioned.

I heard the same scream at the beginning of one of the tracks on that RPG that you talked about awhile back, "KO" something or other.

I have no idea what games are Jamma and what games are un-jamma.  Will all Sega games run on it?  How about Konami and Capcom?  All of those need to run on it.  If not, that's definitely a huge deal-breaker.
