Media outlets are businesses, businesses try to earn profits, and media outlet's profits are tied to their number of viewers (readers). If people weren't interested in what the media was showing (printing), then their profits would fall. I have no problems finding articles about recent deaths in Iraq and see updates of Bush's shit ratings weekly, so what exactly is the media hiding? It surely isn't the problems at Walter Reed, overpaid government contractors in Iraq (chiefly Halliburton), Tom DeLays questionable ethics, or the cluster f*cks known as Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.
