Well, it sounds like the SEGA Gameworks collection is more what I want anyway.

Is that an import or a USA release?

EDIT: Looks like an import. Worse, it looks like it's pretty rare. I couldn't find a single copy on eBay.

Anyone got one for sale? :)
Yeah it's some what rare keep looking though.

Btw it comes in a book with it's history of each game.

In addition to the other fine recommendations - I'll add Revolt (think Micro Machines in 3D), Unreal Tournament, and Bangai O (f'n weird run 'n' gun).

Oh yeah, Revolt. That is pretty great, actually, and something most people wouldn't even notice on the shelf.

Does it have the track editor like the PC version?

Nice. I've also owned UT, it was a great port.

I think it does.

My Dreamcast showed up today. It came with a surprise "free game" which turned out to be Godzilla Generations. Possibly the worst game ever made. A quick look online at reviews swiftly confirmed this. Well, at least the console seems to work fine. Now to get some good stuff for it.

The deck turned out to be a Japanese-region console. What do I need to do to play US titles on it? Just get some kind of boot disc or something? The Dreamcast world is alien to me.

Boot disc like the DC-X or just get the DC modded if ya wanna play both.

Yeah, the mod chip thing looks pretty easy. Just solder in four wires and you're done.

There is a new thing that was developed just recently that involves a simple chipless mod, and then running a homebrew app that changes the DC's region until you run the app again. It allows you to do wacky stuff like have the Euro blue swirl, but play games in NTSC, etc. I can't remember where to find the info, and I haven't tried it yet myself, but from what I read a few weeks ago, it looked really cool.

Here it is:

I still prefer the modchip as you don't ever have to fumble around with changing the region, but this is the next best alternative IMO.

That's what I bought!

So my question was for playing USA games on it.

Anyone played Last Hope? Looks like a horizontal shooter. I saw some screenshots that looked bad-f*cking-ass. But I'd like to know if the game itself is any good before I shell out $40 on it.

I've heard Last Hope isn't so good from a few people, but I have no idea myself.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

wow.

I personally think the DC controllers are some of the best ever made.  KOF '98 and '99 are pretty cool, but Mark of the Wolves and Last Blade 2 are very excellent, besides what others may say.  VMU's are cool and trendy, I still take my Chao's out once in a while and play with them when I'm at work, and people see them and say "what is that, its SO cool" and "Is that something new?"

Games to get-
Shen mue 1 and 2
Bangia-oh!
Virtua Fighter 3tb
PSO
Capcom Vs. SNK 2 (Best version evar!)
and Fur Fighters as it is excellent 4 player frenzy!!!
