Vote for music in PC Engine City!
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:50:58 AM »
PC Engine City will be coming to an end in the near future, but before it signs off I'd like to do a show entirely of requests. It doesn't matter if I've played them before, just tell me what music you'd love to hear and I'll pick as many as I can. Chip or CD sound, it doesn't matter (although I'll try to provide a balance of each in the show).

Thanks!

;_;

If it's going to be your last show, I suggest you play the music from the last games: Bonk 3 & terraforming for the US, and Dead of the Brain for JP.

Many and varied reasons including storage/bandwith (hosting it on work's web space and found out that their hosting bill, erm, went up a bit because of me), less time now I'm deeply into my latest MMORPG, running out of the really good tunes and I don't want to resort to average music and don't want it to get stale. Also I have concerns about the legality of using all this copyrighted music and don't want to push my luck.

Here's another vote for Bonk 3, or more specifically, the music from stage 6-3 of the cartridge version (not CD). This is also the same music used during the final King Drool battle.

I don't think you've ever played it before on a previous show, but it's one of my favorite Bonk tunes of all time.

Might have trouble figuring out which one that is, any clues (or links) maybe?

I'll repost some requests I made a long time ago :) .

Fantastic as usual. Annnnd...... I would like to make some requests!

Batman - First stages song.
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes - Track 20 on game CD (I think the track is called "The Wind's Monologue"). You'll have to cut out the voice parts in the beginning though and wait for the full song part to kick in.
Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys - Track 25 on game CD (track is called Dawn of Ys I believe), or if you can rip the chip music from the CD game, I would love to hear A Teary Eyed Swordsman. :D

Give a shout out to "Keelan" if you decide to play any of those tracks :D !

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

You can download the entire Bonk 3 cartridge soundtrack here:

The file you want is called "King Drool III (The Size of Things to Come).mp3".

K, thanks. :)

Sorry to hear (ha-ha) that you're calling it quits, but all good things must come to an end.  I request 'Under Sea Caves' from Dungeon Explorer II.

Hey! You've played Dragon Spirit's "Kodai" track before (IIRC), so I would love it if you played Hyouga (#1 vote!), Kazan (#2), Hinotori (this is a simple bittersweet tune, not nearly as developed as the previous two, but nice nonetheless... ). I used Paranoia_Dragon's track listings as a reference (see my post below). Sabaku is a runner-up, but it isn't nearly as accomplished as Kodai, Kazan or Hyouga.

My praise for PCE Dragon Spirit soundtrack

We have to prove the naysayers wrong: PCE Dragon Spirit has a great soundtrack :).

Other suggestions:
Any track from CyberCore. The tunes, they're so catchy, but far too short.
Valis II. This is one of my all-time favorite VG soundtracks. I tried to find my post on the subject, but couldn't find it. Arrrrrgghhhh....

Novelty:
I actually like Double Dragon II's track 8: "Hot, Wild".
Looping background music whilst you talk on PCE City: Double Dragon II's "ambient jungle sounds" song (track 6).

I'll stop there, because I could go on forever... :)

Alas I don't have Double Dragon II, but I'll see what I can do with the rest. Dragon Spirit music is always a priority choice :)

I can rip MP3's for you... at the very least, you'll get to hear them (I don't think they are necessarily worthy for PCE City!).

Also, here are the specific tracks I'd love to hear from Lady Phantom and Valis II:

Lady Phantom:
Track 6! (runner-up track 4)... for background music whilst you speak, track 7.

Valis II:
Track 38 (stage 5)
Track 34 (stage 1)
track 36 (stage 3)

track 48 & 49: They aren't used in the game! Bonus!

( Click here to read why I like these tracks. )

Well, as long as we're doing the vote-for-more-than-one-song thing, in addition to my Bonk 3 request above I'll add the following:

Dungeon Explorer

Track 17-Judas Dungeon
Track 19-Final Boss

You can download the entire soundtrack here:
