I wouldn't recomend powerdrift, it really is awful. It has nothing to do with drifting either.

Victory run is a good game, but it takes more skill to play that outrun. Thats probably why those other guys dislike it

No.

I dislike Victory Run because it blows.

I don't know what it is about Victory Run, but there's some ingredient that turns an average game into a good game missing from it. It has decent graphics, the car handles well enough, and there's a bit of strategy too with the spare parts. Yet it all adds up to a game that for me is pretty forgettable.

I can think of a few reasons why Victory Run isn't a particularly good game.  Compared to other racers, it really doesn't control well.  There are very few tunes, and the stage graphics are boring and redundant until the final three levels.  The other drivers are a$$holes and there's lots of crap on the roads, so when you figure in the clunky controls, it can be pretty frustrating while you're practicing to get good at it.  And it's freakin' stupid that you have to slow down and helplessly watch seconds tick away as you approach the finish line in each stage.

All of that being said, I like the game well enough thanks to the strategic elements and the visuals in the later levels.  It definitely feels good to beat it.  But yeah, Final Lap Twin is a much more enjoyable racer.

The F1 Circus series are definitely the best and most impressive racing games for the pc engine : it's fast and very technical. It takes a lot of training before you can win races but youy have to believe me : once you master the controls, these games kick ass. You HAVE to give it another try.

  I knew I couldn't be the only one who likes these games. There is a big learning curve involved but once you get past that, they're a lot of fun. Kind of like a shooting game that seems impossible at first but with practice you can get "in the zone".

Can't believe no one has mentioned Knight Rider yet

Then there are the Motoroader games which are overhead-view racers. My favorite is Motoroader II, so that's what I'm going to recommend. Motoroader II has a futuristic theme to it which clearly makes it the superior choice. Good graphics and gameplay
Hey, please sell me your copy of MRII. I haven't played it yet, but I've been very eager to play it.

Please :)

Or, if you are in the NJ / NY tri-state area, we can have a MRII competition somewhere. Either way, I want to play this game...

I love when I ask a simple question, and start a long discussion.
The general consensus seems to be Outrun, and then to each his own, right?

Can't believe no one has mentioned Knight Rider yet
Even I know that's bad. (but i still want it, cause the show rocks!)

As for me, I find all 3 modes of Final Lap Twin (F1 Race, F3000 Race, and Quest) to be both fun and strangely comforting.

Not to make a new thread within this one, but does anyone here listen to Racing Rocks? I've spent my share of lazy Sunday mornings with Ricki Rachtman giving us the latest NASCAR standings as well as some great rock music...meanwhile, I'd mute my TV and try to get through all 16 F1 race tracks. It can be difficult! Especially when the other drivers seem to band together to push you into signs.

MotoRoader = fun, hilarious game if you have a few friends over and an active imagination
MotoRoader II = More user-friendly; even your girlfriend can play this one...but not nearly as fun to me!
MotoRoader M.C. = Never played it, but I see it on eBay from time to time. Anyone play this? How is it?
Victory Run = FRUSTRATING AS ALL HELL, but if you make an effort to beat it, it can be satisfying.

The best thing about Power Drift is that Japanese auctions for it get translated to "Powered Lift".  True story.

I'll give Power Drift some love and say it's a decent game, but not great. Just remember that you just can't make smooth turns in that game, so tapping the break button makes turns a lot easier and it can be an enjoyable experience.

Motoroader is one of my favorite multiplayer Turbo games. That game is just hilarious and a blast to play with others!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Keranu's being a necro-poster today. Actually it proably only seems like that since I've read the forums 546 times since he was last online.

Oh i think Power Drift is pretty good for a cart racer.

Still it's a weak port of it on the pce. Most of the time i recomend 'it to any one for the (Sega Saturn) or on the (DC) in the sega gameworks title.

Realy it isn't the same if ya play it on pce.
