I just got a Duo
« on: August 18, 2007, 01:43:05 PM »
Well, I just bought a region modded Duo off of D-Lite today! Luckily, it's been thoroughly tested and it won't have any audio issues like a lot of Duos do. Can't wait!

Congradulations! Now you're set for life. Once you get enough cool games to keep you busy for a while, you should pick up a cheap Arcade Card Duo so you can play everything(except the few SuperGrafx games). 8)

Games shouldn't be too big of an issue, seeing as how I already have a small but respectable collection of TG-16 HuCards. But as soon as I'm able to get a job I'll look into getting some CD games.

No; I don't even have anything that would support RGB. Maybe one of these days I might send it back to D-Lite for an S-video mod.

  Well done dude!

Which Duo did you get? The original black one with the headphone jack or the white Duo-R or RX?

I have the original Duo. I would've bought a Duo-R/RX but it was a bit too much (I'm saving some of my money for college).

Good choice. I would have picked that too (I have a PCE Core Graphx II). Although Duo-R/RXs look sleeker, they turn yellow like the Super Nintendo systems when exposed to sunlight for a long period time.

Odd, I've never really seen a yellowed Duo-R/RX. Most of the time I see yellowed systems like the Japanese Saturn and Famicom, and yellowed Duo-R controllers, it's mainly because of something like cigarette smoke. On the other hand, Super Nintendos and even some Super Famicoms will yellow if they haven't been exposed to anything (poor blend of plastic).

Very good observation, I don't think I've realy seen any yellowed Duo-R/RX systems either. It's odd that their controllers will yellow, but not the actual console. The original white PCE can get some nasty yellowing though.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Ehh.. I've seen some nasty looking R's and RX's.  Just go to a Manga or Game Souko in Japan(kinda like a Good Will thrift shop in the States).
You'll see them in stacks, all yellowed and beat, scratched etc... along with SNES, Saturns and other used & abused systems.

the reason you don't see too many yellowed duo-rs' is because their owners paint them black

Hahaha :D . Even more interesting is when people paint original Duo's white. ;)

I don't think that should become much of an issue, seeing as how D-Lite thoroughly tested it before he sent it out. Besides, I haven't gotten any worthwhile CD games yet (I only have one, Davis Cup Tennis, and it's not too fun) and almost all my games are HuCards.
