Yeah that arcade announcer is better than the NES's crap attempt at formant synthesis.  That's also some impressive scaling in the logo there. Of course the NES version has "the song".

OMFG! THAT'S AWESOME! I will NEVER stop loving Mario Paint, it was my first video "game", and it was and still is so awesome and incredibly fun! I would buy a CD produced with nothing but the Mario Paint music editor.

Why there isn't a super rare $280 copy of this for Saturn on eBay right now is beyond me. It would have been so at home there. I love this game.

This is a necro-bump, but I made peace with Strider finally. It is an awesome game.

I like Strider, it's fun to play.  Certainly not the greatest game evar but it has many moments that I enjoy.  I think if there were a better PC Engine version, more of you would enjoy it.

So, I then went to youtube and came across a video of it. Unfortunately it's just the intro sequence, but it looks amazing.

Anyway, was I the only one left who wasn't let in on this little secret, or is this just an elaborate scheme to get my mouth watering at the thought of Strider for the PCE/Turbo. 

I've gotta get my Turbo Duo modded, AND QUICK!!   

Could someone straighten me out on all this. I'm a confused ceti right now.

Most people don't like the PC-Engine version of Strider all that much.

Personally, I haven't played it, but I would definitely like to.

You do need the Arcade card, which means your system has to have the ability to play Japanese Hucards, since the Arcade Card is Japan only (pro card or duo card)

I've personally never actually tried the Turbo version since so many people hate on it.

Eventually I'll give it a chance after I've played through my long long list of "must own, must play" type games.

My feeling is that it's on Arcade Card, so it can't be that bad.

It's not as bad as most people make it out to be.  Yes, it could've been a hell of alot better.  The graphics, from what I've seen, are closer to the arcade version compared to the Genesis version, but it doesn't have the paralax, & when you turn around, the screen shifts over, which is annoying.  The music is fanastic, the cinemas are cool, & the extra level is really cool as well.  Ultimately, it's a great game IMHO.

I actually really dislike the music in the PCE CD version.  And the game is just so dark (graphics-wise).

I don't mind the flicker in Strider ACD, but aside from the messed up scrolling, the worst part is the bad choice of colors. The Genesis version may be completely redrawn, but its color varies between arcade faithful and just good. I still think that some things look cool in the ACD colors, but overall, its very un-PC Engine looking.
