Splash Lake kicks by buttons
« on: September 15, 2007, 10:45:01 AM »
Way back when EB still carried TG-16 games, but only a few, mind you, I bought a copy of China Warrior. I quickly learned it sucked balls and went back to return it the next day. Only they didn't take returns, only exchanges (whereas nowadays I don't think they even allow those) so I looked at what little else was there. I had only paid $20 for China Warrior and not much else carried that price. So I picked up Splash Lake in desperation. It was awesome!

I had so much fun with Splash Lake. I think it's a super under-rated TG-16 title, and one of the few regular CD games I consider worth getting. Buy it!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Splash Lake is awesome. Whoever came up with the concept of a turkey wearing a tie pecking at planks over a lake is a genius  :).

I bought this game at Toys R Us brand new sealed for $3 I think.  I've probably played it 5 times since then.

You haven't experienced the game until you play it in 2-player co-op mode. (I've probably only played the 1-player mode once or twice myself.)

It's a favorite my wife and I just love to play. It gets really really hard towards the end of the game though.

Totally agreed! Splash Lake combines strategy and with reflexes perfectly and it's amazing how well it works out on two players!

You know the game calls them ostriches but I think that's impossible! They are totally turkeys!

We also must remember that this game features the coolest enemy of all time, even cooler than the gunhead (or perhaps "gunhed" would be more appropriate) in Keith Courage: THE COOL SMOKING LOG!

Though not as cool as the log, the black ostriches are a bitch. They can sink your battleship!

Splash Lake will rock your socks clean off of your dirty, stinking feet.  Love it or f*ck off.

I LOVE THIS GAME. Splash Lake is one of my favorite games for the Turbo Duo. I just love the music, especially during the boss fights. And man were those boss fights challenging at times!

spida1a did a great review of this game:

Hmm, I'm going to have to play this game on MagicEngine. Unfortunately my Turbo Duo stopped playing CD games... I think the mechanism that spins the disc is broken.

It reminds me of kickle cubicle for nes sorta.

I wish that game had a PCE release.

Sure, I'll take $500 for it. (JOKING JOKING! :-)

Actually I'd like to hang onto it, because one day I hope to fix it. Or until I get a working one, it still plays the TG16 games.
