extension cable ?
« on: September 27, 2007, 08:53:48 PM »
what's the best approach to getting extension cables for my controllers?   Is there something I can pick up at Radio Shack?   I know most of the other posts that mention TG16 & Radio Shack also mention a time machine.. but I was hoping for something in production in 2007.  Thanks    :-"

Look for 8 pin DIN connectors for the TG16 and 8 pin mini-DIN connectors (like past macs used) for the PC Engine and Duos.  I don't know if Radio Shack carries these anymore, but they are readily available online.  Of course, you could go the easy route and buy them from TZD.  With their current sale, a pair of either style of cables will cost only $10 + shipping.

I don't see anything about a sale.  It looks like the extension cables are $10 a piece.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I would love to get a pair of extension cables, but the price for international shipping is waaaaayy too expensive at $31 smackaroos. If anyone here is willing to buy them in the states for me and ship them up to Nova Scotia marked "gift" I'd totally be willing to send money to them.  :) I think I'll also call TZD and see if they work a deal or something.

I was going to buy a duopad from them but I found some cheap three button controllers on eBay.

Very cheap mini din 8 extensions, http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=mini+din+8

I'm not sure if they ship to Nova Scotia. If not, I'm sure someone here may be able to help you!

Wow!! Thanks for that MrFulci.   :)  I didn't realize that's all I needed. I'm going to check The Source (used to be Radio Shack) for those. But if not I'll definitely be ordering a few of those.

Awsome. Thanks man.

I never thought about that, but now that you mention it, we should start painting them black!

I've always thought about it, haha. How would we go about painting them? Spray paint?

Problem is, they're cables with a rubber or nylon coating which is flexible and deforms. Most normal paint, like most spray paint, will peel after it's dried as a result of the cable deforming during use.

Spray paint your Duo and its controllers to the exact hue of the extension cable.  Problem solved.
