All right. This is my highest score yet on Nexzr. I made through to the 4th stage on one credit. I actually made it to stage 6 (last stage I believe) with a few continues. I'll soon be graduating to "hard" soon. heh

Oh, I have a question regarding high scores and it's kind of a stupid question, but just to be clear.  :) Do the high scores only count for the 1st credit? Like say I played to stage 4 but didn't make it any farther on that 1st credit. However, I continue to play on a continue and get an even higher score. Does the "continue score" count or only the score that started from stage 1? I would just assume that continues don't count. Just curious.

Anyways, here's my score:

Final Score

441,490

Most games reset your score when you continue anyway. For those that don't, I'd say first credit only. Games that don't reset the score after the first credit are goofy IMO.

Yeah, either that or they add a single point to your score for each continue you use (Sinistron/Violent Soldier does this, IIRC) to make it obvious that it wasn't a one-credit achievement.

I agree with Nat: first credit only.

The difficulty was normal. If the score is still on my save bank I can take a picture once I get home. :-"

Do you have Nexzr or Nexzr Special the Summer Carnival '93 version? Just curious what exactly the differences are.  :)

Just curious what exactly the differences are.  :)

The main game is actually the same except for the cut scenes. The common Nexzr has some anime cut scenes which lack in the Summer Carnival version. The Special '93 game includes the score/time attack modes instead.

However, I got my score on the Summer Carnival version because it was the first one of these two games which I could get my hands on. :)

Yeah, same here.  :) I just got my Turbo Duo a couple months ago and while I was waiting for it to arrive in the mail I came across some gameplay footage of Nexzr on youtube. I found a copy of it on eBay immediately and got it. lol. One of my favourite shmups I've ever played.

I've read one review of it somewhere and the reviewer said the game has an "incomplete" feel to it. I think mainly because there are only 7 stages.  http://shmups.classicgaming.gamespy.com/reviews/nexezrspecial/index.html I don't know about That assessment. I kind of like that when you die you don't lose a shit load of weapons become totally helpless like in Gradius/Life Force/Sexy-Star Parodius.

I love the ship. heh. It's probably the coolest looking ship in the PCE/TG fleet.   :P I never tire of the blinking green thrusters.

OK, I actually got to level 7 on one credit, but I couldn't get past that Robotech type battledroid at the beginning of the stage. I have a new high score, but I can't seem to get to the screen where it shows the high scores. Do I have to get another high score to even see that screen again?  :-k

Nice. Now that I've cleared Nexzr, I really need to work on a 1cc clear.

Damn, I remember when Runin and company (Emerald Rocker ?!) were having a competition with this game.

I should pull it out now and destroy the sad scores that I see posted here*.

Just kidding. I have no idea how my score would stack up.
