"Bonk's Adventure" High Scores

Bonk's Adventure

793,650 - Black Tiger
501,810 - Nat
468,830 - Ninja Spirit

I started playing through BA tonight so I could finish off my 6-month-old thread regarding translated level names. I realized about 2 stages into the game that I was playing the American version.  #-o

I decided to finish the game anyway and use my score for this forum. Since I wasn't playing for a high score from the get-go, I should be easy to beat. Anyone up to the task? Let's get some competition going here.

There's no exploiting bonus rounds in this game, so your score is what it is. There is a way to capitalize on points, however, but I won't give it away just now. Anyone who's played the game more than once knows what I'm talking about. There is a way to "cheat" and max out the score counter by exploiting something in the game but that's for babies and any scores submitted that were achieved by this exploit will not be counted.

Taken 5 minutes ago. I really suck at that scoring thing (on land anyway), the furthest I made it was 17 lives though. Lost a couple in the last level, King Drool knocked it back down to the single digits.

You obviously don't know where all the hidden 1UP's are in the game.  :D

There must be over 10 in one of the final area's alone.

There is a hidden 1-up at the beginning of the first level.

There's a shitload throughout the game. I was being lazy in the game I pictured above, but I'm sure it would be no trouble to amass 35-45 extra lives by the end of the game if you utilize the hidden flowers.

After being led here from nat's post in the "What are you playing thread", I was inspired to play through Bonk's Adventure for the first time in years.

I died fighting King Drool, but I did manage a new hi score of 793,650-

Jesus f*cking christ, that's insane dude. You must have spent a LOT of time bouncing enemies on your head.

I planned on seriously trying to juggle them all (like I did back in the day), but quickly got lazy. :P I'm guessing that a score of around 5 million is possible.

Next time I get my Duo near my PC I plan on making a Bonk enemy-juggling tutorial video.

Yep safe to say I am the champion! I have a smooth maxed out 999,999. I even did it before the end of round 4! Now try and beat THAT one!  8)

Oh and btw the max number of lives you can have at any one point is 20, it won't let you have any more than that, at least not 1-ups from points. You  can probably still get more if you pick up a 1-up though. Not like you really need that many!

As you can see from my post above, it most certainly is possible-- you just have to collect straight 1-ups. The game stops awarding them for points though at 20, you're correct there.

So tell us-- what all did you do to max out the score, and how long did it take you?

Nat, it's a little exploitable secret my dad discovered years back when we first beat the game. There is this one enemy in the icy stage, can't recall which part exactly, but you'll know the location when there are those thunder clouds floating up overhead and there is a row of breakable ice with water underneath, that is the only enemy in the whole game that I know of that regenerates indefinitely. To make it even easier it's one of those scuba dinosaurs in the water right by a wall. So you essentially juggle him on your head for the points, go forwards, then back and viola he's back! Repeat for a maxed out score. Using this method I don't think it took over 3 hours play time max.

So now that you all know my dirty little secret go max out your bonk's adventure scores!

Can't juggle as easily on Bonk's Revenge. The programmers must have wisened up for the sequel.  :-k
