Well like america its regional, i live in the north and my southern friends are perplexed that i call it pop, they think it sounds all 80's, but all my most closest friends  and family call it pop
Even more interesting! I love how your friends described pop as sounding 80's; this just gives me a new reason to prefer pop over soda!

Though i have to say the only ever american tv show i've watched that used pop was That 70s show.

Which shows that the people who wrote that show weren't from Wisconsin, the cheeseheads along the lake use the word soda for some odd reason.
