« on: November 04, 2007, 03:51:14 PM »

Looks like Masna.  Those silly guys!

Also, WTF does it say in the moon language that's above the N and A?

Masnya or Masaya. Everyone says Masaya, but the y looks like its part of a "n" like they tried to be stylish, but the n could be a "a" too. .

The katakana is "me-sa-i-ya."

It never even crossed my mind that slanted line was supposed to be an "i". I always read it as "a" since it looks identical to the two other "a"s in the word.

I wonder why they forgot the first a... from the katakana "sa"

I always thought that it was Masiya, but pcecp.com says that it's Masaya.

On a side note: I checked my Japanese Double Dungeons manual for a correct spelling, but no dice (no English); when I checked my US version, I found that the manual is in French.  I bought it a couple of years back from TZD, but apparently never opened the manual; now I wonder if I have any more Canuck versions.

Hah, I never noticed the N resemblence before! I've always been pronouncing it the correct way "Masaiya" ever since I heard someone pronounce it that way.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I used to call it Masna for years upon years, but some time ago, I somehow figured out it was Masaya. #-o

Well, they didn't use romaji to transliterate the English word (as mentioned above, then it would've been メサイヤ - MESAIYA.

All the Japanese websites spell it as "MASIYA".

Kinda looks like they wanted to be "Messiah" but screwed it up  :)
