While I understand the business logic behind the idea, the practical logic just doesn't add up. Yes, I have a cellphone (prepaid) but what if I were in an emergency and had either

1. No signal?

2. No units?

3. No battery power?


Plus, I mean, damn. These things are a cultural icon! EVERYBODY knows what a payphone is! Even though they totally annihilated redboxing like two years ago and removed the anonymity way before that, they are still a big part of phone freak culture as well.

That does suck . I absolutely love the look of payphones, especially the sleek black (sometimes grey, which is even cooler!) plastic and the awesome steel cord.

I too don't have a cellular telephone and I actually had to use a payphone a couple months ago!

Since AT&T is a for profit business, there practical logic is the same as there business logic.  They don't give a tin shit if you are inconvenienced once every blue moon.

Hahaha, phone phreaking is so f*cking oldschool. I first learned of it in the late '80s when I called a lot of BBSes. It might be even older than that, though. I haven't heard that term in like 15 years.
