I haven't down loaded any hucard titles that are emulated so far.

Maybe,i will for the cd titles though it would save me the wear tear for my duo-r etc.

Yeah they run better then a pce duo or turbo duo.

Still they won't last forever and will break down in the end.

Even if i do prefer playing the real deal more.

i've never had to replace batteries mid game; whenever i notice they're even halfway down, I switch 'em out for a fresh pair. kinda hard not to notice since it tells you the battery levels every time you pause.

I'm sure that the hucards, supercds and duos will outlast the wiis virtual console. Nintendo will not support it forever. Eventually the wii will break down too. That is the time when you'll be glad that you have superior emulation on your computer. But lets not be down, lets enjoy what we got now  :)

i dunno, Nintendo supported the Famicom for a LOOOOOONG time.

the 64DD, however, is an example of something that wasn't supported so long.

ya, thats what I mean. I don't know how long their other download service support lasted in the past ( like for the sattelaview). I hope for the sake of the people who've unloaded their wallets to Nintendo Corporation that it will be a long time.

I don't have a Wii but I do have two thoughts on this.

1. One reason to buy the games you already own would to do A/B comparisons on them and see how close the Wii's emulator really gets. You say Soldier Blade sucks on the Wii? Dig it out and prove it!

2. What if Nintendo could find some fool-proof way to verify that you have the actual games (such as mailing in a UPC from the box or something), and when it gets verified, they beam the credit to download that game to your Wii free of charge? That would be cool, but I can't find a way to make it work without the criteria for judgment being easy to reproduce and/or being detrimental to the collector's value of the original game.

Never happen.  They're selling you the right to play the game on the Wii - whether or not you already own the game is irrelevant (just like nobody will get free HD-DVD or Blu-Ray movies because they own it DVD or get free DVD movies because they own it on VHS, Beta, or CED).

Wow, you're right, I never thought of it that way. Damn. :( Oh well. And BTW YOU FORGOT LASEERDISC.

1. Famicom support was only just recently shut down. I think Nintendo will be supporting the Wii for a long time.

2. That is an interesting question. When the Wii isn't supported anymore, will the ROMs stop working?

True, if by support you mean providing repairs and parts as everything else was abandoned years ago.  Nintendo's support of online endeavors has been short lived at best - Satellaview was online for about five years and the Game Cube has already lost its network support.

I wouldn't think so, since they don't require a internet connection for playing.

Can't you transfer VC games to your SD card too? In that case, then you got extra time support with that. I would think that with the Wii being less older than Turbo systems that it would last longer too.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

If that is possible, then how come the roms aren't being shared on the internet?  :-k Are they?

They're tied to the Wii they were downloaded on somehow, if I understand correctly.

You can, but only for storage.  They can't be run off of the SD card.  Also if you get a new Wii, the game won't be able to run since they are assigned to only work with the Wii that downloaded the.  Digital rights management sucks ass.

yeah, it does. one of the few things I dislike about the wii.

I hope someone will have cracked the code by the time it becomes an issue.
