Identifying people with PCE games
« on: December 20, 2007, 02:04:56 AM »
It seems that the name of every regular board member has become synonymous (in my crazy mind, at least) with a particular PCE game.  Usually, it's because the poster is the game's ultimate fan, championing it like no other.  Other times, there's a goofier reason at work.

GUTS - BLOOD GEAR
GUTS has become known the world over as "THE FATHER OF BLOOD GEAR."  He discovered it and hyped it up when no one else had even heard of it.  Plus, he looks like the main character.

RAG-TIME - IMAGE FIGHT
For almost two decades, Image Fight has been known as "just another" PCE shooter.  Then R-T shows up, and all of a sudden a whole bunch of people are playing and enjoying it.

NAT - SPACE HARRIER
It's his favorite game of all time, and he's completely mastered it.  Hasn't suffered a death in about seventeen years, even with the difficulty cranked.

EMERALD ROCKER - EMERALD DRAGON
His user name and avatar pretty much say it all.  Also, this is the only PCE game he's completed, aside from some "imae" teen idol nonsense.

SIGNOFZETA - ADVANCED V.G.
Not only does he like the game, which is weird enough, but he's even cited it on lists of the "greatest" PCE games that US players were "deprived" of.  Yep, if only NEC had brought over more mediocre games about waitress fighting tournaments!

ESTEBAN - BLODIA
Steve sticks up for a lot of bad games, but his love for this one is noteworthy for two reasons: 1) He's more passionate about it than he is about the other clunkers combined, and 2) Not a single other person in the world agrees with him on it.

JOE RUDDIFER - RAYXANBER II
Because he always goes around saying "RAISIN BAR!  RAISIN BAR!" whenever the game is mentioned.  And I think he's the one who posted the link allowing everyone to hear the goofy voices at the beginning.

KERANU - JJ & JEFF
Obviously.  Not only has he been the game's most devoted fan, but he's even managed to convince a few other folks to join him in his mad crusade to bring it more attention and respect.

BONKNUTS - MACROSS 2036
A fellow 2036 fan who famously spent a huge chunk of change to acquire it back in the day.  I think the purchase just shows he was way ahead of the rest of us: if I'd had known how good the game was, and if I'd had the cash, I'd have gladly spent a ton on it too.

TATSUJIN - BAZARU DE GOZARU
He's always posting pictures of himself posing with his copy, and everyone says he looks like the monkey.

PARANOIA DRAGON - STEAM HEARTS
Just because the poor guy keeps trying to get rid of it and, to my knowledge, hasn't had any takers yet.

BLACK TIGER - TENGAI MAKYOU KABUKI DEN
Another no-brainer.  He owns about seventeen spare copies of the game and has no fewer than twenty-six Kabuki tattoos.  Major props to him for the FAQ that helped many others get in on the fun.

CETI ALPHA - NINJA SPIRIT
What can I say?  The penny-rolling story is classic!

M1SAVAGE - ANEARTH FANTASY STORIES
He'd probably rather be known for his mahjong-game prowess, but the fact remains that his Anearth walkthrough kicks all sorts of ass.  Check it out.

SPENOZA - PARASOL STARS
It might be even more appropriate to identify him with the soundtrack rather than the game itself.

CCOVELL - METAMOR JUPITER
Chris is the one who posted the MJ review, right?  It's hard to associate him with anything else because most of his posts are in those "guess the screenshot" threads.

D-LITE - EVERY GAME EVER
When I think of D-Lite, I think of ENORMOUS FS lists boasting hundreds of games.  He's like the Santa Claus of PC Engine games, so I certainly can't connect him with just one.

NECROMANCER - NO ONE GAME
Necro is an equal opportunity fellow who apportions equal commentary to favorites and bombs alike!

RUNINRUDER - ANYTHING BAD
Legion, Energy, Night Creatures, you name it!  Whatever the rest of the community despises is treated like classic material by this clown.

I'm not exactly a regular poster yet. >sigh<.   :( Hell there's always next year.  Not that "Sinistron" is my favorite game.  My last name is Sinisi however.

I'd say that's good enough reason.

You're definitely an old-timer, but you're so scarce these days you may as well be a newb.
