VALIS II

Game play wise I think Valis The Phantasm Soldier is the  best, but my favorite has too be Valis 3.  Yeah that water level where you have to freeze the enemies to get across was insanely hard.  I finally did beat that game, but man when I finally got past that one part I screamed "Holy Shit!  Holy Shit!  Holy Shit! Hell f*cking yeah!"  Haha and I forgot my mom was in the room.  She just looked at me and shook her head.  It was kinda funny.  Man that was years ago.  Think I'll play Valis 3 again.

Murderdate talked me into trying on these Valis titles.  Got my Valis I on the way- I'm well aware it's not the best in the series and that it came out last- just wanted to start at the beginning in terms of story and arc.

Valis III is a legitimately great action-platformer in the vein of 8-bit Castlevania.  It gives you cool characters to use, and it has great music and good graphics and by far the best level design in the series.  The water stage and the ice cavern already alluded to are extremely challenging and feel so good to beat; they're the kind of levels that you always remember. 

Valis II has the worst gameplay of the bunch, and it's very short and easy.  But it's worth owning just for the brilliant music.  It's one of the top ten, if not top five, Duo soundtracks.  It really is that good. 

Valis IV has the best graphics in the series, and it's long and quite challenging.  The characters aren't as cool as III's, though, and the music is disappointing. 

The first Valis has better gameplay than II, but it's kinda slow and pretty easy, and basically just okay in every respect.  It's the most forgettable of the group. 

Then there's the Visual Collection, which lets you watch the cinemas from II, III, and IV.  Hard to find and not worth the effort unless you just want to round out your Valis collection.  Cover's kinda cool, though.

So, who here can tell me if there are official Valis CD Soundtracks? I've never looked for them, but I fear that they exist. And, even worse, I fear that they have lots of neat stuff on them.

Naturally, Valis II is one of the best video game soundtracks, ever. That said, I am desperate to find any "new arrangements" related to Valis, especially Valis II.
