the pc engine versions of bonk and zonk are a bit gay compared to the US versions. In the pce versions, bonk or zonk usually turn into crossdressing drag queens, lol. Its typical Japanese humor I guess.

Woa!!  =; I guess I'm just going to have to hope that one day I just happen to find one lying on the ground.

The grammar Nazi wants to know what falsehoods the Magical Chase HuCard would be telling.  Is it a PCE version masquerading as a TG-16 version?  :-k

Ooh, I'm gonna enjoy your explanation of this one. :) If you think it should be "laying", you're seriously mistaken.

And I think Doraemon/Cratermaze should be removed from the list.  At first I thought Cratermaze had the cute Doraemon characters removed and replaced with generic characters, but Cratermaze is in fact closest to the arcade original.  Doraemon is the "lame" paintjob.

The TG-16 version goes for $400-500, plus or minus an anal fisting.

Yeah it cost a arm and a leg just ask turbo D

Still if you wanna play it the cheap way there's all, ways the pce flash card.

I myself plan just to get the pce version later on.

Eh- I know that Cratermaze is closer to the original- Booby Kids or whatnot- I just find Doraemon much sweeter and the Arabian Nights game is one of my favorite hucards.  Actually just got my Doraemon last night and I could swear that there is differences in the music in Doraemon and Cratermaze- I'll have to compare both tonight.

Had Sinistron when I first had a turbografx- however I need it again- but from what I've just read looks like Violent Soldier will be the way to go.  I remember being owned by Sinistron constantly.  Again- if anyone's wondering why my member name here is Sinistron and I don't currently possess the cart and got my ass kicked by it in the past- the first five letters of my last name are in the title.

Actually received five games last night- Loom (love it), Spin Pair (is what it is), Doraemon, Kattobi! (pcecp said I didn't need to know Japanese- trying to play it it seems very much like I do- which sucks because it seems like something I'd enjoy), and Champions Forever (had this back in the day- just traded my extra Motoroader with MurderDate for this- for the collection).  Still waiting on my Sapphire.   ](*,)

Magical Chase- that's so f*cking rough.  I know that if I shelled out 150 for the japanese I'd just wish that I went all the way and purchased the American which looks to me so much better.  But 400-500 for a hucard- ack.  I'd say hopefully the price will drop when it becomes available for virtual console but I don't think we've seen any turbo games prices drop from that and who knows if we will.  Perhaps virtual console inclusion will just make the originals more popular.  I'll have to chalk up Magical Chase as the one hucard I want that I'll probably never have.

Now if only someone can tell me why the number one on my hucard wish list- the american Hero Tonma is listed as a rarity level 4 and goes for such insane prices on EBay?  Any differences with the Japanese version?

I own only the Japanese version of Tonma, but considering that the goofy between-stage text in said version is already in English, I bet they didn't make the US version different at all.

Kattobi! (pcecp said I didn't need to know Japanese- trying to play it it seems very much like I do- which sucks because it seems like something I'd enjoy),

I like pcecp and I reference it pretty frequently (mainly for the images), but I wouldn't put too much stock in their "Amount of Japanese needed" and even "Genre" entries.  It's clear in some cases that they didn't do much more with the game than power it up for a few moments, which led to some bad calls in those areas (they call Cyber Knight a digital comic, which it certainly is not).

"Amount of Japanese needed" is kind of an iffy category to begin with, anyway.  I and a few other posters around here have played through and enjoyed lots of PCE RPGs and adventure games that are Japanese-text-heavy, and we're certainly not fluent in the language.

Everyone who has ever played Sinistron has an "It kicked my ass back in the day" story.  No shame in that.

Personally I think it works as a Doraemon game with all the kooky gadgets... It makes much more sense thematically than Batman, which to me doesn't feel much like a Batman game at all.

The music for Doraemon/Cratermaze is different.  So be sure to check out the HES file for Cratermaze that I ripped for some excellent tunes!

So far I'm figuring Kato & Ken over JJ & Jeff, for the pissing and farting,
Oh no you did-n't!  Me and Black_Tiger are strong supporters of J.J. and Jeff and the fart attack in Kato and Ken is just obsolete compared to the spray attack in J.J. and Jeff. Why should I have to turn around to attack when I can simply not turn at all ;) ? It feels a lot better knocking out those dragons without having to turn around.

Also I think it looks funnier without the piss because you see the dude just bobbing up and down, doing god knows what.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Ha! I never thought about it before, but a can of spraypaint is kooler than a gas attack, especially since JJ & Jeff is so 80's (and the spraypaint+graffiti connection just makes it sweeter).

Well you're certainly afforded the time to turn around for the attack- unless you masters can actually get that long neck dino as he's initially appearing.  I always have to wait for his second appearance.
