HuCards for which PCE version is better?
« on: January 02, 2008, 06:58:50 AM »
Wondering about this- price-wise mostly always the PCE hucards are cheaper to get thus better- but I'm wondering- for games in which no English language is necessary- which Japanese carts are better than their American counterparts and why?

So far I'm figuring Kato & Ken over JJ & Jeff, for the pissing and farting,
Paranoia over Psychosis, for the alien giving you the finger,
Doraemon over Cratermaze- since Doraemon is naturally much sweeter than that big headed goon in Cratermaze...
I recently read here that PC Denjin has Moo Moo shooting milk out of her tits whereas Air Zonk doesn't-

Please add ones you can think of- be it for reasons of censorship or missing levels, cutscenes, what have you.

There's also in PC Genjin III (Bonk III) Bonk turning effeminate when he eats meat.  This isn't necessarily better- though I personally find it amusing-
and then I know the rare case for Magical Chase- in which the graphics were actually improved for parts in the American version- well at least to my tastes judging by pictures- I've yet to play this.

Yeah, the American Magical Chase is better. It's a pity you have to take out a mortgage to get a legitimate copy.

I don't know if it's really 'better', but the PCE version of Splatterhouse has a proper colored mask and an upside down cross (ooh, scary).

Oh f*ck it.... try search sometime, ya tool.

Forum search engines usually suck balls unless you are already familiar with the thread you are searching for and know which key terms will get you there. Searching for something where you don't know whether it exists or not can be a real hassle in forums. Forum search is not google.

Well I have no issue with being called a tool.  You chaps are a good lot.  :|

I see that Paranoia has levels in different places than in Psychosis- does anyone know if this in fact makes the game easier or tougher?  Haven't played this since I was a wee one but I remember it being difficult...

No offense intended - I just didn't want to type what was already in a similar thread.

How much does Magical Chase go for? I was just watching the comparison videos on superpcenginegrafx.com last night. I'd definitely prefer the TG-16 port over the PCE.

Geeze! I just looked on eBay and the PCE version is going for just under $150 CAN!!  I'm scared to know what the TG-16 version goes for.

Those 'Buy It Nows' are way, way overpriced, as PCE Magical Chase is worth no more than $50 (even less if you're willing to wait for a deal).  The TG-16 version goes for $400-500, plus or minus an anal fisting.

Quick question: Is Magical Chase related in any way to Cotton?

The grammar Nazi wants to know what falsehoods the Magical Chase HuCard would be telling.  Is it a PCE version masquerading as a TG-16 version?  :-k

They changed the level progression in the US version so the game flows better. They flip-flopped levels 2 and 3.

In the Japanese version, level/boss 2 (the "Lego" level) is harder than level/boss 3 (the garden). They fixed this for the US version so that you get the garden first, which makes more sense.

I like the US version better, personally. I can do without being flipped off between levels.

Violent Soldier underwent some significant changes in becoming Sinistron.  Here's my take on how they compare.  I like them both the same, but some might consider one better than the other.
