Isn't this issue already being discussed elsewhere?  Why start a new thread?  I'll keep my discussions to the existing one.

You mean you're not going to vote for option 3? I think he made it just for you, lol.

The other discussion is taking place on a EGM thread in the TG16 area. Since Supergrafx is PcEngine related we should do it here, and as a poll the numbers become clear as to how many members likes what alot more overall.

Yea lol,I think its funny whenever someone says it controls better on Genesis. The game plays perfectly fine control wise on either system. Joe can't take a light jibe it seems,so he prefers discussing it elsewhere....

Damn Kits, how can you not love this classic???? Is it just because its hard? Thats usually the common reason given by people who hate it.

I won't lie to you. Yes, it's really f*cking hard, and to me, it's not worth dying over and over on that first level.

I bought Ultimate Ghosts And Goblins for PSP, and I gave it away, because it's hard, and the CGI is shit.

gameplay & control  are about the same between the MegaDrive/Genesis and SuperGrafx versions.
Ghouls n ghosts is the EASIEST game of the entire series.

Ghosts 'n Goblins - VERY HARD
Ghouls 'n ghosts - MILDLY Challenging - many levels are easy though
Super Ghouls n ghosts - VERY DIFFICULT
Super Ghouls n Ghosts Remix (GBA) VERY DIFFICULT
Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins - INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT

the music (perhaps not sound effects but definitely the music) is better on the Sega version, technically, and also in my opinion.

graphics, in ALMOST every way, are significantly better in the SuperGrafx version.

The SuperGrafx version, although it preserves much more of the graphics from the arcade, is still a long way off from being arcade-exact.     8 meg vs 32 meg PCB, there's no way around that.  but for a SUPER-charged 8-bit system with the same CPU and sound chip as PC-Engine, with only a 2x upgrade in sprite pushing ability 2x the VRAM, and 4x the work ram (32k) up from PCE's 8k but still less than Genesis' 64k,  you got the best translation of Ghouls 'n Ghosts on a home platform for the early 90s.  the U.S. would not get an arcade-quality release until just a few years ago on PS2, PSP and Xbox with CCCv1.

comparisons

SUPERGRAFX

not-colorful, un-detailed ^pixelated trees^ of the parallax background

ARCADE

nice parallax forest-swamp scene^ with lots of detail and color

equivalent scene from MegaDrive-Genesis

completely missing ^stumpy-roped bridge, ^missing parallax layer

No prob with that. The game is def hard, just not for everyone.

I like that we have different versions of the same game each with different levels of quality compared to the original 1988 CPS arcade coin-op.

you might not agree with me but here's how I rate the visuals as far as how close they are to the arcade. this isn't an exact science, or how technically close each version is, just what they look like at a quick glance

MegaDrive/Genesis - 60%
SuperGrafx  - 80%
X68000 - 99~100%
Saturn - 96%
PS1 / PS2 / Xbox (they're the same version) 98%

Whats the problem with the Saturn version. I didn't know there was one. I only played that import Generations disc once for it,so I didn't notice problems. Got any details on that?

Even though I hate this game, I have to ask, what is so different about the X68000 version that it only gets 99%?
