BTW, are you using the original power supply with a voltage adapter or are you using a U.S. power supply from Radio Shack?  If you're plugging the original Japanese AC adapter straight into the wall it may lead to problems down the road (like your NES).

I dunno, I've used Japanese AC adapters straight off my wall current for years on multiple different consoles with no issues.

Apparently the voltage coming from the average U.S. wall socket can be quite a bit higher or lower than what the standard is supposed to be.  I might be able to get by without my converter, but I figured an extra twenty-five bucks wasn't a bad idea after I spent $200 on a SGX+SCD set-up.
