Wow. The way people have been talking up Dungeon Explorer lately, I thought it was sure to win. Didn't realize Blazing Lazers was that popular.

Blazing Lazers is a top-notch game, so it's no surprise that it would be high on people's lists.

Some of those titles are quite nice, but Blazing Lazers has to take it. There's just no other way to fly than Compile.

Back in the day I would have voted R-Type all the way, but nowadays I can't really stand the game and would much more likely be playing Galaga '90 than the others because its still actually fun.

BTW, even though there are way too many "favorite" whatever poles on here right now, think this is a good one. We should do every year, and then start over again with PC Engine.

Yeah, I'm kinda poll happy. I already have the 1990 one ready to go; I was just going to wait for activity on this one to slow down.

However, I'm not sure I want to start over with the PCE; it's a lot more complicated and would take a while longer.

it was ahead of it's time, of course ;)

Seriously, that seems to be standard practice with games with years in the title. kinda like cars.

93 is going to be tough with choices such as Dracula X, Winds of thunder, Dungeon Explorer 2 and Jim power.

A tough choice indeed. There are so many classics to choose out of from this list.

As much as I love Dragon Spirit and its soundtrack, along with a few others such as Keith Courage in Alpha Zones and Alien Crush, the only game I felt that was the best out of all of them was Blazing Lazers. It truly is an incredible game for its time, and even had some very nice voice clips. I remember watching and being dazzled by the gameplay.

It had much had deserved this honor. If this was based on the favorite instead, my vote would probably be different.

Blazing Lazers, being a SHMUP, already pwns everything. Being arguably the best SHMUP on the list, it wins by a landslide.

Blazing Lazers all the way. The music and graphics for this game were amazing for 1989 standards. The game totally rocks out.
