If I can get 'em cheap, then I'll take 'em brand new and enjoy slicing 'em open; otherwise, I like 'em snugged up in a jewel case.  I also hear that they make great cereal with a spot o' milk.

That widdle sponge that comes with the Japanese games... GENIUS!  Way more thought out than the Turbo Arm that is in the US chip jewel cases which actually keeps the thing put and can't be lost but instead must be broken with excessive force.  Yes, I am being sarcastic.

They were, and then they went to work for Sega of America and made sure that Sega CDs and US Saturn games came with an even bigger sponge (because Americans have bigger hands).

In jewel cases of course! This brings me to another question: Usually, there's this plastic sleeve which has a longer and a shorter side (where you insert the HuCard). For some quite unknown reason, it's crystal clear to me that the shorter one is the up side showing the HuCard front but when I get games from Japan, they almost always have the longer sleeve side up front. Now the question, who rox the box, Japan or me? I unfortunately never paid attention how the HuCard was insert into the sleeve when I opened up a sealed game but I hope someone of you has and can tell me which is the official correct way.

I actually had this problem too! I believe the long side faces you and the short faces the case.

I remember now the reason I keep the sleeves with the short side up front. The later HuCard games (e.g. the Hudson volumes ~45+) contain sleeve with two little holes and the corresponding hookes on the case to hold the sleeve in its place. These holes are on the longer sleeve side which therefore has to be the bottom side. :-"
