Joshua Turbo sent me copies of L-Dis and Cosmic Fantasy 1 for Christmas this year. Haven't spent much time with CF but L-Dis is pretty freakin' cool. The graphics are nice and colorful in "typical" PCE style making it perfect for these dreary winter days.

L-Dis was a nice surprise (I wasn't expecting much from it years ago...)

I love thinking about the person who made the cover art for that game! I wish we could see some "behind the scenes" photos of the process... I feel this way about all the "dioramas/miniatures" used in artwork. Like...Hany in the Sky/on the Road.

As you might imagine, New Adventure Island! Sadly something weird happened this time around, I was approaching the level 2 boss on my first game when the game went black and white, tiled the image in a somewhat distorted 2x2 grid, froze, and played a continuous tone. Cleaned the card a bit and put it back in and it didn't happen again in the hour or so I played after, but this has me worried now since the card really wasn't dirty when I started playing. Hopefully this was just a one-off thing...

That sucks. I don't want to give you false hopes, but I think I have, very rarely experienced this 1-2 times.

The problem is we are talking 20+ years ago, and I feel the game always froze very quickly, early (title screen) and *maybe* within first few moment of playing a level.

It's hard to differentiate my NES VS. NEC experiences...

I can't remember ever playing far into a game (as you did, with NAI) and *then* having the game freeze... I would remember that.

Towns don't have side quests as far as I know.

The snow level and volcano levels are good grinding spots. The 2nd level with the bunnies is a great early spot.

Best armor is more important than the best sword.

The weapons and armor in stores don't upgrade until you buy something, so have no worry buying.

Try and play around with the pause menu options. One option gives you invincibility during boss fights, almost critical for the last boss

Mini games are useless but fun. You could also try easy mode which prevents you from falling down puts

PM sunteam_paul, he is a big fan of the game and knows a lot more than I do.

Lukester, PCenginebible says this game has battery back up....do I need to manually save? And if it's manual, where is the save option? Peach Boy doesn't appear to save just upon completing levels.

Pretty sure you manually save at the statues.

I remember seeing a blog with a post where they identified every toy used for the diorama that is the cover art for Vic Tokai's Zombie Nation. They had a very high res picture of it too. I'll see if I can dig that up.

I have been having a lot of fun playing both of the 5 minute caravan levels for Soldier Blade and Gunhed - right amount of tension/fun/timing for quick pick up and play sessions - Best wishes - Ron

Played some Blazing Lasers today. Esteban got me thinking about it with his recent video. Easily got to area 9, but that boss rush is a bitch.
Arkhan: Im not butthurt by your enjoyment.  Im buttglad.

Gate of Thunder

I'm new to the CD side, so I picked up both Turbo Duo pack-in discs. I'm only 25 years late to the party.

I just finished Dragon's Curse for the first time. I really enjoyed it. Nice graphics, fun level design, and I liked the character switching dynamic.

The one thing I didn't like was how the potions were handled. When you load a game, all your potions are gone, so you have to go back and get more. Then, when the potions are used, you can get anywhere from 1 to 8 hearts refilled. When I battled the Vampire Dragon the first time, I used three potions, which refilled a TOTAL of five hearts. I went down in flames. The next time, the first potion refilled all my hearts.
