were these games made by the same company? I LOVE Last Alert! It makes me feel like im in an early 90s Schwarzenegger's flick when i play it.

I'm pretty sure Bloody Wolf was made by Data East and Last Alert was made by Telenet. Awesome games.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

(what Keranu said)... and the fact that they are completely different games - they play different, look different, sound different, etc. But yeah, not by the same company.

Imagine - Bloody Wolf on CD with cinemas galore like Last Alert. But Bloody Wolf is awesome by itself. I really love the instruments the game uses. Gives it a unique sound. Oh man, I need to listen to some Bloody Wolf!

They both rule, but, yeah, Bloody Wolf for the win!

I can see how the two can be seen as sequels of eachother due to the identical gameplay.
I wouldn't say the gameplay is "identical", but they're both in the same genre definitely. Bloody Wolf was a little more different than other run n' gunners in that it was like a mix between overhead and sidescroll platforming... kinda like a beat'em up or something.

Last Alert wins.  I haven't played Bloody Wolf beyond a rental back in 1991 or 1992, but that memory is enough to base a valid opinion on, right?

You should play through Bloody Wolf some time, it's really sweet. I think Bloody Wolf is a better game, but I think I personally prefer Last Alert since I'm a sucker for it's RPG elements, cinemas, and awesome voice acting.

Bloody Wolf rocks hard but I think Red Alert rocks harder. I love the variety of weapons and of the missions. Still, they're both excellent games.

Don't make my cry! Bloody Wolf is awesome, the chip tunes kick ass, except for some flicker/slowdown, it's a pure delight...

Of course, I would have gladly paid for a slightly-enhanced CD version of Bloody Wolf.

I always thought it was funny in bloody wolf how there wasnt a animation for when your climbing over fences.  The dude just kept on climbing air at the top of the fence.  I cant express how awesome the soundtrack is for bloody wolf.  It topples many CD rom game soundtracks.  I think there was also some dialog typos in the game where the spelling was so obviously wrong.

It'd be great to make sequals to both.  Next Alert, or First Alert & Bloody Coyote!
