Big Game Matchup EIGHT
« on: March 08, 2008, 05:52:04 AM »
Well, here we have two games with a LOT in common.

I'm a really big fan of both of them, but JB's kick-ass plot and quirky characters draw me in even more than Soldier Blade's awesome action and mighty bosses.

Having not yet had the chance to play JB Harold, I had to vote Soldier Blade. This is the first matchup in which I haven't played both entries somewhat extensively.

The truly tragic part is that I actually own JB Harold, and have for some time, but I have so many other games I'm working on I just haven't gotten around to it.

Hmmm different kind of matchup.  Big fan of both- but I'm usually more in the mood for a quality shooter than an investigation...

J.B. Harold.

Wow I can't believe we've done eight of these already.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I voted for J.B. Harold, but only because it needs a little love before being slaughtered.  It's a great game and more original and entertaining than Soldier Blade, but only if you're going to play it once, as its replay value is nil.

Actually I found J.B. Harold's replay value to be suprising well even after knowing who dun it. I've played it like three times in 3-4 years before and it held up for me. Of course there is no denying that Solider Blade has better replay ;) .

I voted for JB Harold because it has faster action, bigger bosses and more explosions.

I agree.  I play through JB every few years, and I get into it every time.  Sure, I know who did it, but I certainly don't have all of the cool plot elements and amusing lines memorized, so revisiting it remains worthwhile and entertaining.

The Parking Lot Attendant alone defeats Soldier Blade.

For sure! The attendant would smack any Soldier Blade Hu-Card that got near him. "BITCH, get the hell on outta here!"
