The New TZD.COM
« on: April 08, 2008, 06:25:53 PM »
Well, it's happened.

Redfrog has lobotomized the TZD.COM domain.

They threw Aaron's beautiful design out the window and customized it with everyone's favorite red frog. What a ugly, bland, generic look. Yuck.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

When I noticed the new site yesterday there were a lot more broken links, they must have just got this up.  I miss Aaron's design but the new layout isn't bad and it's important to indicate that there's been a change in ownership.  The old site under Redfrog control felt like a wolf in sheep's clothing.  What's interesting is the new, unlinked tab for "used games" on the homepage.  Maybe they'll start selling off the remaining loose playtester Turbochips?  (the old alphabetical promotion stopped at F).  For what it's worth, prices for all of the new games went down ten bucks.

Is there any reason to believe that that "Official NEC 1st Party Cable" is actually from NEC? Before all they had were the shitty ones that don't even connect right. The picture is of the real thing, but if they have them then where did they get them?

Ya a big change in look, should have left some TG16 goodness in there instead of that big ass frog!!!
I have never bought from here only reason being that shipping to cold Canada was a standard $30 even for a few manuals  i wonder if the rate has changed with the switch over… maybe worth a phone call.

Yeah this new design is pretty generic but it's not terrible. Wonder why they dropped the price on almost everything?

Meh, I've seen far worse web sites - such as TZD's pre-Nantoization.  I do find it interesting that the Turbo controllers come with a Duo cable for the buyer to swap out, rather than pre-modded like they used to be.

I think that's the same price that they've been offering 'em on ebay, and the common titles don't garner much interest (i.e. market price).

Blek....The design isn't very inspired, but yeah, I've definitely seen worse. I wonder if they still hold that lame "no international shipping" rule that TZD had.  :-k Cus the prices for the duo extension cables are pretty sweet and I still need a few more of those. Actually, now that I also have a TG-16, I'll need to get some extension cables for that as well.

Their ebay auctions have rip off prices for shipping to Canada. They wanted $20 to ship a vhs tape.

Maybe now they will carry used games?

That might be cool, just as long as they aren't $1,999 each!

I must say my initial impression of the site isn't as off-putting as I would have thought.  I'll reserve final judgment for when people report back on their received purchases and I'll leave extra time to see if any true colors emerge past this initial price drop which was obviously planned to get them back into our good graces.
