darkcityproductions, rise from the ashes?
« on: May 12, 2008, 03:07:56 PM »
Greetings folks,

I used to be quite involved in the Turbo Scene...

I called myself "darkman" and was the webmaster of darkcityproductions.com. I enjoyed updating it and it's Turbo Duo Pages.

It's been years since I made any updates to the darkcityproductions.com Turbo Duo Pages, and I haven't been active in the turbo scene for about the same amount of time. I changed my domain and email address, and started to work on other projects. However, I still kept the old darkcityproductions.com duo pages tucked away.

About month ago I decided that I was going to unload my entire collection. I knew that my Turbo Duo Pages still got some traffic so I decided to toss up a small news bit about my sale, and info on how to contact me, as the email address on the turbo pages no longer worked.

I got a email asking a question... Remembering pcenginefx.com I decided poke around, see what was going on. I had forgotten the warm nature and dedication by this tightly nit community. Now I find myself hanging out on the "shoutbox" BSing. It's great fun, and the perfect distraction from the daily hardships of life.

I had forgotten the darkcityproductions turbo pages, and I just assumed that others had as well. But, since hanging out in the chartroom here on pcenginefx.com I have gotten a lot of prise for my old site.

Now I am considering reviving some of my old projects. ~

My question for you folks, is what should I do?
I was thinking of cleaning up the old darkcityproductions.com duo pages, fixing broken links and removing defunct content... *maybe* adding some new content...
Should I just leave it as is?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Ohh, and you can still get to the pages by visiting this link: http://www.electrohaze.com/duo/

nice-
update the review section to include pc-engine titles-
also maybe expand the reviews- and update them as perhaps you feel differently about some by now?

Ohh my goodness... That would be quite the undertaking. I very much do feel differently about my of the games now then I did then.  The reason I made the reviews small, is so they would fit in the list... extensive reviews would require a lot of room. :)

Now if the list just had summaries of long reviews, that would be nice...

A good idea man, don't know if I have it in me though.  :D

Definitely keep up the site! I really love it. I used to go there a lot when I was new to the turbo scene. I found the "newbies" section especially helpful!  I do have one question though; where is the porn on the site? lmao, j/k.  8)

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Anyways, thanks for the kind words... I am learning a lot of old schoolers used my site to get them started. It's fun to hear about it these days...

Another vote here for making like a phoenix and reviving your site.  Like many others, I found it to be indispensable back in the early days of my Turbo obsession (I particularly enjoyed the system card error screen shots), and would hate to see it go the way of the dodo bird.

Dude! It's good to see you here :)

I still have the "Ys Special Edition" from many, many years ago... thanks for that.

I thought the "Wrong System Card Screenshots" was a great idea and is a project that should be completed. I haven't been to your site in a bazillion years... but I still remember that, for what it's worth.

I also remember some pages on Valis -- plus, some Brazillian (?) dude who did a nice job covering some of the songs from Valis. I don't think I have the mp3's on this computer, unfortunately, but I like them.

Blah, blah, blah.

Definitely salvage the content from your site: it is worth it.

:)

That's sweet that you have a copy of "Ys Special Edition." This means you mailed me a CDR at some point, and I mailed you a copy of it back. :)

Those days were fun... I got room on my server now to host the image for that...I did that so long ago, would be nice to re-do it. Time will tell...
