Who would have though that such a sissy la-de-da dating sim would have a neat little hardcore mech shmup within the game?  Not me.

There is even a Twinbee minigame too. That I would have expected.

Thanks for posting this.

I'm curious as to why we haven't heard about these before. Or maybe it's common knowledge and I'm the only one not in on the fun?

The graphics in that Twinbee game look awful, though. Even through the crappy YouTube codec I can see the pixels. Looks like an early NES effort.

Force Gear, on the other hand, looks awesome.

Well that is how the 1985 arcade version looked. It is supposed to be a timed version of the first Twinbee game.

Oh really? That explains it.

I'm still reeling from the fact it took 15 years for someone to discover those.

No idea. I don't have Tokmeki Memorial. I just found these on YT today. It would be nice if any English Tokimeki FAQs are around.  :-k

Wow, Force Gear would be really impressive as a full game. They even put effort into the sound. Too bad they never made Force Gear with a Tokimeki Memorial minigame instead.

That Force Gear is pretty rad.  I've invested a total of about an hour into PS1 version of Tokimeki Memorial.  Had I known there was neat little things like that, I would've played some more!  (Not to mention my Japanese skill was near zilch around that time).

Yeah man. I wish Konami actually made Force Gear a stand alone full game. It would have been an excellent PCE exclusive Konami shmup.

How long do you have to play the uber interesting Tokimeki Memorial until you reach the 2nd / 3rd school tournament where you unlock these two hidden eggs?

Holy cow! Force Gear looks freaking awesome to the max! Some really cool graphics and effects with some outstanding sound! Gameplay looks like it would be interesting too. I wonder if Konami was ever making that into a full game, whether before or after the release of Tokimeki Memorial? Looks like way too much time was put into it to simply just be a demo. I want to know what those "Ace Pilot" and "Escape" modes are.

Did anyone notice the score initials at the end of Twin Bee? ELF (I use this one a lot actually, just to mock a dorky friend that used to use that) and KKK! Was that Konami's idea to put KKK or did the person who owns the game put that for fun? Also that Twin Bee demo had great sound too.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).
