Actually it was a hell of a good deal! (By MS1 price standards anyway...)  Store had a special 1-Day only aniversary sale, everything was 20% off which knocked the price way down.  :D

I think if you buy a conversion it makes you an inferior person or something, deserving of much hatred.

My Slug 1 is 100% original. (I've confirmed it with a fellow collector).  I have no interest in conversions.
The Price was high, but cheaper then what you'd find online.

That RGB adapter is only taking composite and turning it into RGB, so the end result is no better than composite.

Are you kidding me? That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Where did you base that statement on? Look at the port - there are 8 ports on this Duo-R. Look at a standard port - there are 5 ports. Hmmmm....3 extra data lines....and RGB has three lines.

How would one take composite and split into RGB? No - this Duo-R has RGB tapped from the HU6260 chip, and then fed to a 8din connector (note the 5 din connector has been replaced) - this allows you to use a standard AV cable, or a custom cable like you see in the picture that will allow you to use that RGB signal.

I can tell you that RGB compared to composite looks amazingly better, and no it doesn't actually look worse. I was going to do the 8din connector on my Duo, but this guy saved me the time. Worst case is it wasn't hooked up right, but I can take care of that.

Oh, sorry Duo_R... I was a bit sleepy when I first looked at that.  What I thought was going on was that you used an external adapter that plugged into the Duo 5-pin DIN and gave you an 8-pin DIN on the other end.   #-o

Anyway I have the same 8-pin DIN on my TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM.

Joe now worries - it was a good laugh.  Of course my long winded response probably had to do with the money I spent on ordering that sucker (about $180 shipped with EMS from Japan). The main thing there is it does come with 3 games, Avenue 3 which I don't have, and saves me from having to do the RGB mod (oh and the modded guncon adapter). I am probably going to sell the games which lowers my purchasing cost.
