now i just need to get that supergun together.

Picked this up yesterday.  After buying a second Turbo Duo controller, figured I would pick this up to go with it.

New in box, although the box has a few dings.  No biggie since I dont save boxes anyway.

So when I saw Battlecry, which I've never played before, I figured I'd give it a try.

Any good?

Ok, so I've played it off an on over the past couple of days and I'm on the fence.  It's not really very good, but the nostalgia factor is pretty high.  It's cool to be able to fly around in the Robotech universe, but the controls are very clunky.  As the jet, it's not too bad, but the Guardian is really challenging to get used to, and when you're in Battloid mode, you only have a machine gun.  The graphics are pretty good.  They have a nifty cel shaded effect, though I don't think it's as nice as the effect found in Wind Waker.  Music from the original show is here, which is neat.  Nice cutscenes.

Got myself a Sony Wega 29 inch CRT (larger than that is hard to find in Japan unless you're OK with widescreen). Damn fine picture. Really makes me want to S-Video or RGB mod my Duo and Supergrafx, but that will be much later, if ever.

The other TV I was using?

Nice score! I've been searching around craigslist for Sony Wega 32 inchers, as I'm beginning to think my Samsung 40" LCD just doesn't cut it for my older consoles.

How does the Duo look on that TV in composite?

It definitely looks good, and I'd bet you would be glad to get hold of a CRT. Naturally, the Duo in composite (and the Supergrafx, too) has that quirk where certain color patterns get all funky when they scroll. That's the nature of the composite encoding on this system. If an S-Video mod can reduce or get rid of that, then I think I wouldn't really need any other quality boosts.

Picked it up used, so I'm afraid I can't say. :(

With the S-video mod (thesteve on the forums version), it fixes both the dot crawl and color shimmering. It even gets rid of rainbow effects and shimmering you see even when the screen is sitting still. It also improves resolution and color by a lot. It is definitely worth doing, trust me.

Went thrifting Saturday morning and found a PS2- w/memory card, 2 (working) controllers and all hookups in VERY nice shape.  This particular thrift store that I went to had 4 PS2s for sale, 2 of them had generic 3rd party controllers, and none of the others had memory cards.  When I tested out the one I picked up I found a Guitar Hero II disc inside.  =)  I bought a copy of Raiden III years back, but never was able to try it out as I've never had a PS2 that played those finicky blue backed games!!  Well, I was happy to find that this one was able to do it!  All for only $16.  All working, very happy!!

This thrift store has more PS2's and a couple Original Xbox's as well that are listed at $16 each (If I get them on Saturday's (15% off) )  If anyone is interested, I could take a look next weekend. =)

3 blocks of walking later and I found a copy of final Fantasy IX for Psone for $2.50.  All in all, a great day of 'squatch'n' for goodies!!

Went to the local market and found an actual beer that once stood in the court of the Crimson King!!  And it's pretty tasty too!!

Got this as a surprise gift a few days ago

I had an original GBA and this one "blows it" out of the water. It's all about that back-lit screen.
