I played the 2600 back in the 80s but never had one. I went with the Jr because of the 80s look (playing with a videogame console not a piece of furniture). Favorites games Megamania, Pressure Cooker, Pitfall, River Raid, Enduro.

Raiden 4 is pretty awesome. Beat the game with 2 players and 1 controller. I DARE YOU. Another solid pickup for 360 is the raiden Aces combo. Has 3 games. pretty fun.

Switchzx's amazing quote -
"I was starting with the hardest to get games first. I realized I was never going to get Magical Chase so gave up on it all, sold up and got out."

Blueraven's quote - "it begins."

There is an UK/English release of that too although it's been censored.

I just got in this PC-98 notebook from Japan. It's a PC-9821Na13. This is one of the models that has the ability to use the FM sound a lot of games use. This is also a later model so it has a nice big screen. Usually when you see these on yahoo Japan the screens are messed up but I made sure to get one that had a nice screen. I plan on installing a Compact Flash hard drive on this. Now I have the big 4 Japanese computers- X68000, FM Towns, MSX2+ and PC-98

I also picked these up off Yahoo Japan for my wife and kids. Got all 4 for $20 which is about a quarter of what 3 goes for here in the US

Although I am familiar with the other gaming computers you mentioned thanks to Game Sack I am rather clueless to the PC 98. Could you elaborate more?

@Medic_wheat while it was similar to the things such as x68k and other things of that nature.  NEC also produced their line of computers.  Their first one being the NEC PC88 and then this one being the NEC PC 98. It was to a lot of eroge visual novels that have been featured on both the pc engine and the saturn.  Things like Dead of the Brain, Steam Hearts, Yu-NO, Desire, Eve Burst Error and things of that nature.  It was their 16/32 bit computer and had quite the color palette to really bring the characters to life.  Here is a picture from eve burst error(http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/473043-eve-burst-error-pc-98-screenshot-wow-looking-stylish-marina.gif).  Depending on the model they will either have 3.5 inch floppy drives, or the 5.2.  This is an important note because some of the games are in different types of floppy formats, so that is also something to take into consideration.  For example, Dead of the Brain 1 is on 3.5 inch floppy while the 2nd game is on 5.2 in.  That is about the extent of my knowledge.

While I may not know the entire library of this computer in particular, however, PunkicCyborg will be able to possibly elaborate on the specs moreso than I could.

The PC-88 and PC-98 computer line was much more popular in Japan than X68000 and FM Towns but it doesn't have as many arcade and action type games as those other computers. There's also a lot of different models and not one system that does it all. You don't hear about it as much from westerners because it scares off a lot of people from getting into it and most people just emulate the games instead. There's also TONS of porn games. If you see computer pixel art from some 90s JP pc game of some anime babe on tumblr it probably came form a PC98 comic adventure game. There's a couple cool platformers, puzzle and even a couple shooters I'm mainly interested in playing

Punkicyberborg and Tknijn

Thank you for providing more details regarding this computer.

It's seems to be much like the Marty and other computers used for JP gaming emulation will be the easiest and more approachable way for me to experience these games. I have yet to dip my toe in it.

I guess it comes down to my preference for system games where it is much less likely to need extensive knowledge of computer systems and repair to enoy original hardware/games.

The extent of my PC gaming as amid was Blood and Duke Nukem 3D which would cause the family computer to crash at times and lead a ban on using the expensive family computer that was ment for taxes and home work to be used in such a matter.

Yeah I don't recommend getting real Japanese computers if you want to just check out the games. They are all emulated pretty well and a lot of the games are in Mame, anthologies or ported elsewhere
